Fork of Pathetic Bar Chart

This example displays the top 10 most populous countries as horizontal bars without axes, using a simple SVG rendering. The chart fetches population data from the United Nations World Population Prospects 2019 CSV, extracting the 2020 population values for each country. Built with React, it leverages d3.scaleBand for the y-axis categories and d3.scaleLinear for the x-axis values, mapping each country’s population to bar widths. The bars are drawn as SVG rectangles, with a loading state shown while data loads asynchronously via d3.csv.

Fork of Rendering Data with React & D3

A radial burst chart visualizes CSS named colors as equal-width arcs around a central point, with each arc filled using the color’s RGB hex value. Built with React for the UI and D3 v5 for data loading and geometry, the code uses `d3.csv` to fetch the dataset, `d3.pie` to compute arc angles, and `d3.arc` to generate SVG path commands. The SVG is rendered by React.

Fork of Vega-Lite API Template

This visualization displays the relationship between miles per gallon, horsepower, origin, weight, and car name from the Auto MPG dataset. The Vega-Lite API constructs a scatter plot where engine weight encodes point size and country of origin drives color, with a tooltip for each vehicle. It uses `vl.markCircle`, `vl.x().fieldQ('mpg')`, and `vl.y().fieldQ('horsepower')` for quantitative axes, while `config.js` customizes axis and label styling, and `getData.js` loads the CSV via `d3.csv`.

Fork of Smiley Face Part III

This example shows a smiley face rendered as a static SVG graphic using React and D3. The face consists of a yellow circle for the head, two black eyes, and a mouth drawn as an arc path. The code imports the `arc` function from D3 to generate the mouth shape, while React handles the JSX structure for the SVG elements. All dimensions—such as eye offset, radius, and stroke width—are defined as constants, and the final graphic is embedded in the page via `ReactDOM.render`.

Smiley Face Part II

This example renders a cheerful, abstract smiley face that fills the entire browser window, drawn using React and SVG. The face consists of a large yellow circle with a black stroke, two small circular eyes, and no visible mouth. The code defines environment dimensions and uses constants to position the face in the center, with eye offsets and radius calculated dynamically. React renders the SVG elements via `ReactDOM.render`, whose coordinates are supplied from window dimensions.

HTML Starter

This example shows a minimal HTML page that draws a single SVG circle. It demonstrates the basic structure of an HTML document with embedded CSS styling and JavaScript, though the current code contains no active scripts or data. The SVG circle is rendered with a radius of 200 units using the native `<circle>` element. This serves as a starting point for building more complex visualizations with libraries like D3 or React, as referenced in the accompanying README.
