Let's make a face with D3.js!

A smiling face is drawn with D3.js as a yellow circle, complete with eyes, a mouth, and eyebrows that animate by moving up and down. The code uses D3's selection and DOM manipulation methods to build the SVG structure, while `transition().duration(1000)` creates the repeating eyebrow motion. The face is constructed using basic SVG shapes like `circle` for the head and eyes, a `path` for the mouth via D3's arc generator, and `line` elements for the eyebrows, all centered within an SVG canvas.

Responding to Resize

This example demonstrates how a D3.js visualization can adapt to browser window resizing by redrawing an SVG to match its container’s current dimensions. It shows two thick, semi-transparent green lines forming an X across the full chart area, with the lines and SVG width/height updating on every resize event. The code uses D3 v5’s `select` and `selectAll` with a data join, reading `clientWidth` and `clientHeight` from the container div, and listens for the window’s `resize` event to trigger the redraw function.
