This visualization shows the development history of the D3 ecosystem as a streamgraph, where each layered area represents a D3 repository and its thickness shows the number of commits per week, smoothed with `array-blur`. Layers are ordered by first commit time, revealing the monolithic `d3` repo’s early dominance and the 2014 explosion into many packages. The code uses `d3.stack` with `stackOffsetWiggle` and `stackOrderAppearance`, renders SVG paths via `d3.area`, and styles hover states with CSS. Data comes from a JSON file of all D3 commits, with labels placed using `d3-area-label`.
