This pie chart displays the income of the top 10 Indian states for the financial year 2011-12. The data is loaded from a remote CSV file, sorted by income, and then sliced to show only the top ten states. The visualization is rendered using D3 v5 with an SVG canvas. It uses `d3.pie`, `d3.arc`, and `d3.scaleOrdinal` to create the pie segments and color them, while also generating a custom legend with rectangles and text labels for each state and its corresponding income in Rupees.

This bubble chart displays the correlation between horsepower, torque, and highway MPG for various car makes, using circle size to represent MPG and color to distinguish manufacturers. The visualization includes a tooltip on hover and a legend for both the size scale and color groups. Built with D3 v7, the chart uses `d3.scaleLinear` for axes and bubble sizing, `d3.scaleOrdinal` for color mapping, and SVG rendering with animated transitions for tooltips.

A stacked bar chart displays the percentage distribution of IMDb movie ratings across six genres, using a divergent color scale for five rating categories from "below 5.0" to "above 8.5". Hovering over any segment reveals an exact percentage via a tooltip. Built with d3.v7, the chart uses `d3.stack()` for stacking, `d3.scaleBand()` for genres, and `d3.scaleLinear()` for percentages, with data from the provided CSV. The SVG render includes axis labels, a title, and interactive mouseover events.

A collection of decorative flower-shaped SVG paths is rendered on top of a background image of flowers. The artwork is composed by repeating the same complex path data multiple times, with each instance scaled and translated to a different position using SVG group transformations. The React application, built with React and ReactDOM, generates the SVG structure programmatically, while the paths are drawn with violet and brown strokes. The overall effect is a patterned, layered composition of stylized botanical forms against a photographic backdrop.

Task 3 - tutorial

This example uses React with SVG to render a chaotic, generative art piece titled “Buddha in colors - overlapping Buddha.” The visualization uses nested `map` loops over an array from 0 to 20 to generate a dense field of overlapping semi-transparent polygons, each positioned and colored using random values. A larger Buddha-like path is overlaid and transformed with translation and scaling, creating a layered, abstract composition. The design features a black background, vibrant random colors, and rotated geometric shapes, producing a visually striking and dynamic effect. The rendering is done entirely with SVG elements, driven by React's declarative component structure.

Fork of Buddha

Fork of Buddha is an animated visualization of a synthetic dataset, where eleven colored circles expand, reposition, and cycle through their specified radii and colors against a black background. Using D3 transitions, the circles ease in from a radius of zero to a fixed size, then shift to new coordinates with a fast linear motion, while the entire composition fades to 60% opacity. The circular layout and overlapping translucent disks create a Buddha-like silhouette, rendered as a looping, meditative animation from the included CSV data.
