Fork of Selecting a Year on a Line Chart

This interactive line chart displays population trends over time by region, with a movable vertical line and circular markers that highlight the selected year across all series. Users click or drag on the chart to change the selection, updating the visualization in real time. The visualization uses the D3 v5 modules `nest`, `scaleTime`, `scaleLinear`, and `scaleOrdinal` to structure and scale the data, while `axisBottom`, `axisLeft`, and `line` handle axes and path generation. Population data comes from UN estimates (1950–2014) and medium-variant projections (2015–2100), rendered as SVG with semi-transparent strokes.

Raghu test

This example demonstrates how D3 can be used to append and style a circle element, which it renders as a red shape without a visible parent SVG container. The code selects a `div` with the ID `message`, chains `append` operations to create a circle, and applies a red fill using the `attr` method. It loads D3 v5 from UNPKG and relies on the `select` and `attr` APIs, while a separate local module repeats the same circle-creation logic. The visualization highlights basic D3 DOM manipulation and styling through a minimal, single-element output.
