HTML Starter

This example demonstrates a minimal setup for embedding D3.js within an HTML page using inline SVG. The page displays the text "Hello HTML" and a gray SVG background, created by initially rendering an empty `<svg>` element and then styling it via D3's `select` method. The code directly loads the D3 v5 library from a CDN and uses standard JavaScript to manipulate the SVG, illustrating a bare-bones starting point for D3 projects without external frameworks like React.

Shapes with SVG and CSS

This example demonstrates two fundamental SVG shapes—a circle and a rectangle—styled purely with CSS. The SVG canvas is fixed at 1000 by 600 pixels, with the circle positioned at (60,60) and the rectangle at (150,10). The stylesheet applies a maroon fill to the circle and gray to the rectangle, while the body margin is reset to zero and overflow hidden. The implementation uses raw SVG elements directly in HTML, with CSS selectors targeting the `<circle>` and `<rect>` tags for styling.
