Top Grossing Movies V2

This visualization compares the incentive money paid by local municipalities to Hollywood productions against the resulting production costs spent in those locations, using data from Film L.A. Inc.'s 2015 Feature Film Study. The bar chart uses `d3.scaleLinear` and `d3.scaleBand` to map the quantitative cost values and categorical movie titles, with `d3.scaleOrdinal` assigning distinct colors to the two financial measures. Rendered as an SVG, it demonstrates custom axis styling and tick formatting to clearly show how incentives like Georgia's $80 million payment to Disney/Marvel correlate with substantial local spending, such as the $445 million spent on "Avengers: Age of Ultron."

Fork of Customizing Axes - Movie Grosses

This bar chart shows the top 10 highest-grossing movies worldwide as of January 2021, using data from Wikipedia’s list of highest-grossing films. Each bar is color-coded by release year, and the y-axis labels combine the year and movie title. The visualization uses D3 v5 with `scaleLinear`, `scaleBand`, `axisBottom`, and `axisLeft` to render the axes and bars as SVG. It also customizes tick formatting to display box office values in billions of dollars, but the code does not include the y-axis call.
