This visualization combines a choropleth map of U.S. states with SAT score data, shading each state in a solid red-orange regardless of participation or score values. The map is rendered using `d3.geoPath` with TopoJSON from the us-atlas package, while SAT scores are loaded from a CSV and appended as additional paths without affecting the fill. The map also includes a scatterplot of cities lived in, plotted by latitude and longitude, though their dots are not visually distinct from the state fills. The code uses d3.v7 and SVG rendering, with state boundaries drawn via TopoJSON features.
