Fork of Polished World Map

This example presents a polished world map using a Natural Earth projection rendered as SVG. Country landmasses are filled with a teal color, while internal borders are drawn as thin strokes and graticules overlay the sphere. The visualization uses d3.geoNaturalEarth1 and d3.geoPath to project geographic features, with d3.geoGraticule generating the grid. TopoJSON data from the world-atlas package is loaded via d3.json, and the `feature` and `mesh` functions extract land polygons and interior boundaries. React manages the component state, while CSS defines the color palette.

Fork of Smiley Face Part II

This example renders a large yellow smiley face that fills the browser window, with eyes positioned symmetrically around the center and a mouth implied by the face’s outline. The visualization uses React and ReactDOM to create SVG circle elements dynamically, calculating dimensions from `window.innerWidth` and `window.innerHeight` to ensure the face scales responsively. A `<g>` transform centers the drawing, while fixed offsets and radii define the facial features, with a black stroke on the main circle for contrast.

Fork of Analysis using scatterplots

This interactive visualization analyzes race-based wealth inequality in the U.S. from 1963 to 2016, using both scatterplots and vertical bar charts to display median family wealth across White, Black, and Hispanic households. A dropdown menu lets users switch between racial groups, triggering smooth transitions that reposition the data points and bars via D3’s transition API. The chart uses d3.scaleLinear for axes, d3.extent for domain scaling, and d3.csv to load data from the TidyTuesday repository.

Fork of Animated Scatter Plot with Menus

This interactive scatter plot visualizes the Iris dataset, allowing users to explore relationships between different flower measurements. The visualization uses D3 v6 to render animated SVG circles that transition smoothly when the X or Y axis is changed via dropdown menus. The code implements reusable modules for the scatter plot and menu components, using D3's `transition()` for animations, `scaleLinear()` for axis scaling, and the `csv()` function to load the dataset from a GitHub Gist.

Fork of Animated Scatter Plot with Menus

This interactive scatter plot explores the Iris flower dataset, allowing users to dynamically select which measurements appear on the x- and y-axes through dropdown menus. The visualization is built using D3 v6's modular approach, combining a reusable `scatterPlot` function with a custom `menu` component that uses `d3.dispatch` for event handling. As users change axis selections, the plotted points and axis scales transition smoothly over a one-second duration using D3's `transition` API. The SVG rendering also includes a species-based categorical axis option, demonstrating both linear and point scales.

Fork of Animated Scatter Plot with Menus

This example presents an interactive scatter plot of the Iris flower dataset, where users can dynamically select which attributes to plot on the X and Y axes using dropdown menus. The visualization uses D3.js v6 with SVG rendering, employing `d3.scaleLinear` for axes, custom built-in `transition` methods for smooth 1-second animations of circle positions, and `dispatch` for change events. As users change selections, circles animate to their new coordinates, and axes transition accordingly. The dataset is loaded via CSV from a remote gist.

Fork of Animated Reusable D3 Scatter Plot

This animated scatter plot cycles through four Iris flower measurements, plotting petal width, sepal width, petal length, and sepal length on the x-axis while keeping sepal length on the y-axis. Each axis transition updates the circle positions and axes over one-second intervals using d3 transitions. Built with a reusable scatterPlot function that leverages d3.scaleLinear, d3.axisLeft, d3.axisBottom, and data joins, the visualization loads the CSV data via d3.csv and animates smoothly between attribute combinations.

Fork of Reusable D3 Scatter Plot with Symbols

This example presents a scatter plot of the Iris dataset, showing petal width against sepal length, with distinct d3 symbol shapes (circles, crosses, diamonds, etc.) encoding the different Iris species. It is built using a reusable `scatterPlot` function in D3 v6, which leverages `scaleLinear` for axes, `scaleOrdinal` to map species to symbols, and a `symbolGenerator` to render SVG paths. The plot reads the dataset from a remote CSV via `d3.csv`, displays axes using `axisLeft` and `axisBottom`, and supports configurable margins and symbol size through its fluent API.

Fork of Reusable D3 Scatter Plot

A reusable scatter plot renders the Iris dataset as animated circles, cycling through four measurement axes every two seconds. Built with D3 v6, it uses `scaleLinear`, `extent`, `axisLeft`, and `axisBottom` to map petal and sepal dimensions. The `scatterPlot` module accepts configurable accessors and margins, while `setInterval` triggers re-renders. SVG circles and axes update smoothly, styled with the Share Tech font.
