skysat-coverage-map
This map shows the global distribution of satellite image counts collected across agricultural regions and major cities, with point size encoding the number of images per location. The visualization uses D3 v3 with SVG and animation, plotting a diverse set of sampled sites from North America, Australia, and beyond. The dataset, drawn from agricultural and city CSV files, is represented using scaled circle markers over a geographic projection, with an animated transition that sequentially reveals the points—likely by image count—so that locations with more satellite captures become visually dominant first. The map highlights geographic clusters in the U.S. Great Plains, Australia, and Brazil, with labels for top sites like Paterson_WA and Budapest_Hungary.
