Mass Shootings 1966-2017
This interactive map from Gomitak visualizes mass shootings in the United States from 1966 to 2017, with each event represented by a circle marker whose size reflects the number of fatalities. Users can brush a time-series bar chart to filter events by week, and toggle between views showing incident counts, deaths, or injuries using radio buttons. The visualization combines Mapbox, Leaflet, D3.js, and crossfilter, with markers rendered as SVG vector circles and popups displaying incident summaries. Data comes from a GeoJSON file documenting shooting details such as location, date, and casualty counts.
