HTML Starter

This example shows a minimal HTML page rendering the text “Hello HTML” in the browser, centered with a font size of 13em. It uses plain HTML and embedded CSS within a `<style>` tag to control layout and typography. The page serves as a bare-bones starter template with no external libraries, JavaScript, or data sources. It demonstrates the simplest possible web document structure, useful as a baseline for comparison with more complex visualization frameworks.

Locations of Datavis 2020 Students By Date

A world map plots the approximate locations of students who joined Datavis 2020, with each point colored by the week they joined. The visualization uses a natural Earth projection via `d3.geoNaturalEarth1` and `d3.geoPath` to render land masses, graticules, and country borders from TopoJSON data. Student locations, manually geocoded from Slack introductions, appear as circles sized and colored by a sequential Viridis scale based on join date. A color legend with date ticks helps interpret the temporal distribution.
