This scatter plot shows the relationship between GDP per capita and CO₂ emissions per capita, with each dot representing a country-year observation. Points are colored by region and include a legend, while hovering over a point reveals a tooltip showing the country, year, and both variable values; clicking a point selects and highlights it. The visualization uses d3.csv to load data from a GitHub gist, d3.scaleLinear for the axes, d3.scaleOrdinal with d3.schemeTableau10 for categorical coloring, and d3.axisBottom and d3.axisLeft for tick marks. All marks are rendered as SVG circles, with the tooltip positioned absolutely and delayed via setTimeout.
