Making a bar chart

A horizontal bar chart ranks ten countries by population, using the top-ten data sample of 2018 estimates. The chart encodes population in bar widths and country names on the y-axis. Built with D3 v5, it loads data from `data.csv`, parses populations, and renders SVG rectangles using `d3.scaleLinear`, `d3.scaleBand`, and `d3.max` to set scales and domains. The code imports `select`, `csv`, and scale functions via ES modules and appends a grouped `<g>` element with margin transforms.

Let's make a face with D3.js!

A cheerful yellow face built from SVG shapes appears centered in the viewport, with two black eyes and a curved mouth. The example demonstrates basic D3.js shape generation using the `select` and `arc` APIs. Circles define the head and eyes with fixed pixel coordinates, while the mouth uses `d3.arc` with an inner and outer radius and a half-circle angle range. The SVG canvas is 960 by 500 pixels, and all elements are positioned relative to its dimensions.
