Loading Data with React & D3

This example demonstrates how to load and summarize a dataset within a React component using D3 utilities. It fetches a CSV file of CSS named colors via `d3.csv` and displays the row count, column count, and file size using `csvFormat`. React state tracks the loaded data, showing a loading message until the async request resolves. The visualization renders as plain text in an SVG-independent `<pre>` element, highlighting the integration of D3's data-loading APIs with React's state management.

Loading and Parsing CSV Data

This example demonstrates how to load and parse CSV data from a remote URL using the Fetch API and D3 v7’s `d3.csvParse` method. It displays a summary message in the browser showing the number of rows, columns, and file size in kilobytes. The code uses an asynchronous `getData` function to fetch the text from a GitHub gist containing CSS named colors, then parses it and updates the page’s `#content` element with the results. The visualization is purely text-based, with no graphical rendering.

Mouse Follower

A yellow circle follows the mouse cursor within an SVG canvas. The circle's position updates in real-time, moving to match the pointer's coordinates on every mouse movement. The visualization is built with React and D3.js, using a stateful component to track cursor position and render the circle. The `useState` hook maintains the current coordinates, while the `onMouseMove` event handler updates them, and ReactDOM renders the SVG element to the page.

Part 1

A grid of 18 smiling faces, each rendered as a yellow circle with black outline, two eyes, and an arc-shaped mouth, demonstrates randomized facial feature variation. Built with React components and D3’s `arc()` generator for the mouth path, each face uses `Math.random()` to assign unique eye and mouth radii. The SVG is constructed via `FaceContainer`, which translates a centered group, while `BackgroundCircle` and `Eyes` define the base shapes. The faces repeat without spacing, creating a tiled pattern.
