TOP 10 MOST POPOLOUS CITIES

This visualization displays the ten most populous cities in Australia, using a horizontal bar chart rendered as SVG. The bars are styled with solid red fills and the city names are labeled with large text. The chart is built using the D3.js library (version 5), with data loaded from a local CSV file (`aust.csv`) containing city names and their respective populations. The program reads the data asynchronously using the `csv` function, and the SVG canvas is set to 960 by 500 pixels.

Making a Bar Chart

This example shows a horizontal bar chart comparing the populations of Australian cities, with each bar’s length proportional to the city’s population. The chart is rendered as SVG using D3 v5, with data loaded from a CSV file and scaled using `d3.scaleLinear` for the x-axis and `d3.scaleBand` for the y-axis. The bars are drawn by appending `rect` elements to the SVG, with their widths computed via the linear scale and heights from the band scale.

TOP 10 POPULOUS CITIES IN AUSTRALIA

This bar chart displays the populations of the ten most populous countries, with circles sized proportionally to each value, based on 2018 estimates from the United Nations World Population Prospects. It uses d3.scaleLinear, d3.scalePoint, and d3.axisBottom/axisLeft to create the axes, with a custom tick format converting numbers to abbreviated units. The SVG circles are colored pink, and the chart renders with a title and axis labels. Data is loaded via d3.csv.
