Fork of Scatter Plot

This scatter plot visualizes heart disease data from the UCI Machine Learning Repository, allowing users to explore correlations between numeric attributes like age, cholesterol, and blood pressure. Dropdown menus let viewers select which columns map to the X and Y axes. The visualization is built using D3 v5, with `scaleLinear` for scaling axes, `axisLeft` and `axisBottom` for gridlines, and animated circle transitions via `transition().duration(2000)` with staggered delays. SVG rendering displays semi-transparent red circles, while axis labels and tick marks are styled through CSS.

Visualizing correlations between heart disease patients' data

This interactive scatter plot lets users explore correlations among heart disease patients by selecting any two metrics from dropdown menus, which map to the x- and y-axes. Each point represents a patient, colored by heart disease status, from a CSV dataset. Built with D3 v7, it uses scaleLinear, axisBottom, axisLeft, and transition().delay().duration() for animated point placement. The chart renders in SVG with adjustable margins and axis labels.

Visualizing correlations between heart disease patients' data

This interactive scatterplot displays correlations between heart disease patient attributes—such as age, cholesterol, and BMI—with heart disease status, using a red dot for each individual. Users select any attribute pair from the two dropdown menus to swap the axes, and the points animate smoothly into their new positions. The visualization is built with D3 v7, using the `scaleLinear`, `extent`, `axisLeft`, and `axisBottom` APIs for scaling and axes, while `transition.attrTween` or `transition().duration().delay()` handles the animation. The data comes from a CSV file loaded via `d3.csv`.

Fork of Customizing Axes

This bar chart displays the population of the top 10 most populous countries using 2018 estimates from the United Nations World Population Prospects. The visualization is built with D3 v5, using `scaleLinear` for the x-axis, `scaleBand` for the y-axis, and custom axes with `axisBottom` and `axisLeft`. The code formats population values with `format('.3s')` and removes default axis domains. Data is loaded via `csv`, and the chart is rendered as SVG with styled tick lines and labels.

Fork of Cars Scatter Plot

This scatter plot visualizes cardiovascular health data from a heart disease CSV, plotting each patient’s weight against their age as horizontal bars. The visualization uses D3 v5 with `d3.scaleLinear` for the x-axis and `d3.scaleBand` for the y-axis, rendering SVG rectangles. Data is loaded via `d3.csv` from the `heart_disease_data.csv` file, with each bar’s width proportional to weight and height set by band width. The example is a fork of an original cars scatter plot, adapted to this medical dataset.

Sol LeWitt Designs

This piece generates a Sol LeWitt-inspired wall drawing using D3. It displays 100 horizontal bands across the full screen, masked by a singular circular cutout. A second, vertical set of bands is masked by an inverted circle, creating a geometric interplay of lines and voids. The code demonstrates D3's selection and join APIs to build the SVG structure, with the circular masks defining the visible regions.

Fork of Exercise 1: SVG Fundamentals

A self-contained SVG scene depicts a stylized sunrise and sunset over layered terrain, using only HTML, CSS, and native SVG elements without JavaScript libraries. The code applies animated radial and linear gradients to color the sky and two overlapping landscape paths, while a circle animates its vertical position to simulate the sun descending and rising. The animation repeats indefinitely over 15 seconds, cycling the sky and land gradient stops between aliceblue and steelblue. This example demonstrates fundamental SVG animation techniques through the `<animate>` element and gradient definitions, with no external data or rendering frameworks.

HTML Starter

This example demonstrates a minimal HTML page that combines CSS and JavaScript for visualization. It renders two SVG graphics: a standalone circle and a larger SVG containing a red rectangle, green circle, and white text label. The code uses plain HTML elements with inline SVG attributes, including width, height, and fill properties, to construct the shapes without any external libraries. The page serves as a bare-bones template for getting started with web-based graphics.
