A bar chart tracks daily new COVID-19 cases in New York City from late February through May 2020, using a black fill that turns orange on hover to reveal a tooltip with the date and case count. The visualization, built with D3 v5 and rendered as SVG, uses `scaleBand` for the date axis and `scaleLinear` for the case counts. The `d3.tip` library provides interactive tooltips, while the data comes from NYC Health data showing cases, hospitalizations, and deaths.
