A bar chart displays the maximum daily temperatures in Stockholm for each day of May 2018, using blue bars with hover highlighting. The data comes from AccuWeather, with one outlier corrected using Dark Sky. Built with D3 v4, the visualization reads a CSV file via `d3.csv`, scales the x-axis with `d3.scaleBand` and the y-axis with `d3.scaleLinear`, and renders SVG rectangles for each bar. Axis labels and ticks are generated with `d3.axisBottom` and `d3.axisLeft`.

You might neither know nor care, but May 2018 was the warmest May ever recorded in Sweden (where I live). I looked up the temperatures for each day of May 2018 on this website

Note: One data point seemed really high (40C) so I used the temperature from Dark Sky instead.

Sthlm temperatures May 2018

A combined bar-and-line chart displays Stockholm’s daily maximum temperatures for May 2018, with bars for observed highs and a line for historical maximums per day, highlighting the unusually warm month. The data is loaded from a CSV via `d3.csv` and rendered as an SVG using D3 v4. Scales include `d3.scaleBand` for days and `d3.scaleLinear` for temperature, while the line is drawn with `d3.line`; axes are generated by `d3.axisBottom` and `d3.axisLeft`. A legend and hover effect on bars are included, with raw values from AccuWeather and Dark Sky.

Bar chart

This bar chart displays monthly average temperatures, with each month on the vertical axis and temperature values extending horizontally. The chart uses an SVG canvas with pink bars, rendered using D3 version 5. The code employs `scaleLinear` for the x-axis, `scaleBand` for the categorical y-axis, and `axisLeft`/`axisBottom` for ticks, reading data from a CSV file. Months appear in order from January through December, showing a peak in May.

Diverging Bar Chart of Temperatures

This diverging bar chart displays average December 2016 temperatures for various station cities, with each horizontal bar extending left or right from a central zero axis to show below- or above-freezing values. The bars are colored using a sequential red-blue interpolator (`d3.scaleSequential` with `d3.interpolateRdBu`), ranging from blue for cold to red for warm temperatures. The visualization loads weather data via `d3.csv` and renders as SVG, using `d3.scaleBand` for the city axis, `d3.axisBottom`, `d3.axisLeft`, and `d3.axisRight` for ticks, and the external `d3.legend` library’s `d3.legendColor` for a color scale legend. Hovering over a bar turns it red.

Histogram D3

This histogram displays the distribution of average daily temperatures recorded throughout 2016, with bars colored green that turn red on hover. Built with D3 v6, the visualization loads CSV data via `d3.csv`, computes bin counts using `d3.histogram()`, and scales the axes with `d3.scaleLinear()`. The SVG rendering includes axis generators (`d3.axisBottom` and `d3.axisLeft`), interactive tooltips via appended `title` elements, and explicit margins for layout. The code demonstrates a straightforward binning workflow from raw weather data to a readable chart.

Untitled

A bar chart displays five daily temperature readings in San Francisco, ranging from 0.9 to 2.5 degrees Celsius, using blue bars of proportional height. The visualization encodes values with a linear scale and renders static SVG rectangles, with an axis generated by `d3.axisBottom`. It uses D3 v5 to bind the dataset, scale the bar widths, and append a bottom axis with four ticks. The data is a small sample from the Data Canvas - Sense Your City project, though the chart only shows these five arbitrary values without labels for dates or units.

A6 - Diverging Bar Chart in D3

This diverging bar chart compares average temperatures across cities, using a diverging color scale (blue to red) to show deviations from the mean baseline. The visualization renders as SVG via D3 v7, with bars extending left or right from the baseline depending on whether temperatures fall above or below average. It uses `d3.scaleDiverging` with `d3.interpolateRdBu` for coloring, `d3.scaleBand` for city categories, and a `d3.legendColor` legend. Data comes from a CSV file containing weather records, loaded with `d3.csv`, and the chart includes labeled axes and a title.

Bar Chart

This bar chart displays average monthly temperatures in Seattle for 2017, with each bar representing a month and its value plotted on a zero-based y-axis. The visualization is rendered on a Canvas element using Chart.js, which the code initializes with a dataset fetched from a GitHub Gist containing the CSV weather data. The chart applies a red color scheme to the bars and includes hover effects that darken the selected bar. The data loading occurs asynchronously via the Fetch API, parsing the CSV rows into labels and numeric temperature values.

Infovis

A bar chart visualizes municipal tax rates across Swedish regions, using a dataset of demographic and economic indicators. Each bar is sized statically at 300 by 300 pixels along both axes. The visualization relies on d3.csv for data loading, d3.scaleBand for categorical x-axis scaling, and D3 selections to append SVG rectangles. The current implementation appears incomplete, as scales and axes are not fully configured or rendered.
