This visualization displays the 2016 NFL regular-season schedule for the Dallas Cowboys as a sequence of 13 week-long blocks. Each block is labeled with the opposing team's name, including a "Bye" week, rendered as a static array of strings. The code defines a JavaScript array called `weeks` containing the opponent names in chronological order, which presumably drives a visual timeline or calendar layout. The implementation relies on plain JavaScript data structures rather than any external visualization libraries, with the data hard-coded directly in the source file.

This visualization maps the projected difficulty of upcoming fixtures for each team in a sports league, using a force-directed network layout. It shows the relationship between teams based on their opponents’ home and away difficulty ratings, with nodes positioned by a simulated physics model. The implementation relies on `d3.forceSimulation` to compute node positions and link forces, while `d3.geoPath` is not used here—instead, SVG elements are drawn for nodes and edges. The data comes from the `next_fixtures.csv` file, which lists team IDs and their assigned difficulty values. The code reads this CSV and renders a static snapshot, without interactive transitions or canvas-based pixel manipulation.

This visualization uses a timeline of NBA coach tenures, showing each coach’s consecutive seasons as a single continuous stint. The underlying data is parsed from a CSV file, grouping season-by-season records into multi-year stints by merging adjacent years for the same coach. The Ruby script sorts the stints chronologically and prints them as text, relying on the CSV library for input and standard array/hash operations to detect continuity. The output itself is a plain list of stints, with no graphical rendering; the visualization would require a front-end library like D3.js to draw the timeline, but the provided code only performs data preprocessing and formatting.

Home/Away Viz

This visualization displays the home and away games for 30 teams across 176 days of a season. Black rectangles mark home games for each team, while red rectangles indicate away games, with team names listed along the left edge. The upper display organizes games by each team’s schedule order, while the lower display arranges them chronologically by day. Built with D3.js v5 and SVG, the code reads from a CSV file and dynamically redraws the visualization on window resize.

This example visualizes a two-week running schedule from a small CSV dataset, showing daily mileage with a pattern of rest days every fourth day. It uses a line chart rendered with D3.js, where the x-axis maps sequential day numbers and the y-axis encodes miles, with data points joined by a path generated through d3.line. The visualization highlights the alternating effort and recovery rhythm, with zero-mile rest days clearly visible as dips to the baseline. The code loads the data via d3.csv and applies a linear scale for both axes, while a smooth curve interpolation (d3.curveLinear) connects the points to emphasize the cyclical nature of the training plan.

This example logs a shuffled array and fetches JSON data from a Dallas News data store containing Cowboys draft history. Using jQuery for DOM readiness and Lodash's `shuffle`, it imports a custom `getdata` module that relies on `d3-fetch`'s `json` function to asynchronously retrieve the dataset and output it to the console. The code also demonstrates commented-out alternatives with jQuery's `$.getJSON`, showing a work-in-progress approach to loading and logging the same external JSON resource.

This visualization maps every NBA game since 1946 onto a grid where the x-axis represents combined losses and the y-axis represents combined wins. Each cell’s color and size indicate the number of games played between teams with that specific combined win-loss record. The chart uses d3.csv, d3.nest, and d3.scale.quantile to process the game data and render the colored rectangles. The visualization also highlights the best and worst historical records with step-after lines, making it easy to compare team performance over time.

This example visualizes NHL team performance metrics from a JSON dataset of game statistics, plotting each team's goals for and against across multiple games. It uses D3.js to render a scatterplot with team abbreviations as labels, positioning points based on goalsFor and goalsAgainst values while encoding win/loss records through point color. The visualization leverages d3.scalePoint for axes, d3.forceSimulation for label collision avoidance, and Canvas rendering to display all team data points from the standings.json file.

This visualization presents a week of daily weather data for a single location, using a circular timeline to encode conditions such as temperature, humidity, wind, and cloud cover. Each day is a concentric ring, with hourly metrics plotted as colored arcs or bars. The code relies on D3.js for layout and rendering, specifically using `d3.forceSimulation` to position labels and `d3.scaleTime` for temporal axes. Data comes from a local JSON file containing Dark Sky API-style forecast fields, rendered in an SVG canvas.
