The visualization animates a growing shopping list, with each item added as a horizontal steelblue bar whose length encodes price, paired with a text label. It plays through successive arrays from the `data.json` file, revealing new products and re-sorting bars in descending order of price with a smooth resizing animation. Built with D3 v4, it uses `scaleBand` for vertical positioning, a linear `scaleLinear` for bar widths, and applies transitions to new, updated, and exiting SVG elements, including bars and text groups, to choreograph state changes.

Shopping App Prototype

This visualization animates a growing shopping list, showing each item’s name and price as a horizontal bar chart that updates in real time. The bars are sorted by price in descending order, with item labels overlaid on each bar. The code uses D3 v4 with an SVG renderer and `.transition()` to animate the vertical positions of bars as items are added every second. Data comes from a local JSON file containing sequential snapshots of the list, and scales are created with `d3.scaleLinear` and `d3.scaleBand`.

Shopping App Prototype

This example animates a shopping list as items are progressively added to a cart, showing a bar chart where each bar represents an item and its length corresponds to its price. The data, loaded from a local JSON file, updates every second, causing new rows to slide in and existing bars to resize smoothly via D3’s data join and enter/update/exit pattern with `d3.scaleLinear` and `d3.scaleBand`. Text labels for item names and prices are rendered in SVG with both a stroked background and foreground layer for readability.

Shopping App Prototype

This example demonstrates a prototype shopping list visualization using D3 v4 with an SVG rendering approach. It displays rows of steelblue rectangles representing product prices, with text labels showing each item’s name and cost, using a dynamic dataset that updates via timed intervals. The code builds scales with `d3.scaleLinear` for prices and `d3.scaleBand` for vertical positioning, and uses a reusable render function with enter/merge/exit selections to smoothly add and remove items over time.

Shopping App Prototype

This interactive shopping app prototype animates a dynamic dataset of products and prices, displaying each item as a horizontal steelblue bar with a text label showing its name and price. Using D3 v4 with SVG rendering, the visualization updates over time via `setTimeout` calls, adding and removing items like Milk, Eggs, and Cupcakes while adjusting the scale and bandwidth. The code leverages `d3.scaleLinear` for price encoding on the x-axis and `d3.scaleBand` for categorical positioning on the y-axis, with enter, update, and exit selections to handle data changes smoothly. The fixed vertical spacing maintains consistent row height as the dataset grows and shrinks.

Shopping App Prototype

This example demonstrates a shopping app prototype using a bar chart to display grocery items and their prices, with data updating over time. It shows how a D3.js visualization can transition between different datasets, adding and removing items while adjusting bar widths and labels dynamically. The code uses d3.scaleLinear and d3.scaleBand for positioning, and binds data to SVG rect and text elements via selections. Bars are styled in steelblue, with item names and prices displayed as text, and updates are triggered using setTimeout to simulate asynchronous data changes.

This animated bar chart simulates a shopping cart filling with groceries. Each frame adds an item, with bars growing to show price and text labels displaying item names and costs. The visualization uses D3 v5 with transitions to animate size and position changes, reading data from a JSON file. Items are sorted by descending price, with the chart height expanding to accommodate new entries.

Shopping App Prototype

This example demonstrates a simple shopping list interface where items and their prices appear, update, and disappear over time using animated data joins. The prototype renders text elements in an SVG canvas, with each item positioned vertically and displaying its name and price. D3 v4’s data join pattern (`selectAll`, `enter`, `exit`, `merge`) handles the dynamic updates, while timed `setTimeout` calls trigger sequential changes to the dataset. The code uses `d3.select` to target the SVG and `text` elements, with styles applied directly via `.style()` and attributes set through `.attr()`.

Shopping App Prototype

This example demonstrates a simple dynamic text list that simulates a shopping app interface. The visualization initially shows a single grocery item, “Milk” at $3, then updates after one second to add “Eggs” at $20, and finally corrects the egg price to $2 one second later. The prototype uses D3 v4 to render SVG text elements, with each item positioned vertically with fixed spacing. The `render` function leverages D3's selection API to append text nodes, setting font size, family, and alignment attributes. The data updates are triggered by JavaScript timers, though the code does not handle removal of old text elements.
