An interactive Node.js visualization uses d3.forceSimulation to position a network of SVG circles, each colored by a sketch preset. The sketch data is loaded from a JSON archive and rendered as a force-directed graph. The example demonstrates force layout with drag behavior and visual encoding of categorical data through node fill colors.

This example visualizes a force-directed graph using D3’s `d3.forceSimulation` to position nodes, with links drawn as SVG lines. The rendering approach uses Canvas `getImageData` to sample pixel data for a custom background effect, while Three.js handles 3D-like sphere rendering for node highlights. The code reads node and edge data from an embedded JavaScript object, and the simulation runs continuously with a `tick` handler updating node positions. A dropdown menu lets users filter the graph by cluster, though the filtering logic only updates node visibility without altering the underlying simulation forces.

This example visualizes a force-directed network graph where nodes and links are rendered as animated dots and lines. It uses d3.forceSimulation to compute node positions and d3.line to draw the connections, with the entire scene updated on each simulation tick. The code pulls node coordinates from the simulation and redraws SVG elements, showing how real-time physics-based layout can be paired with D3’s data-binding for interactive node-link diagrams.

D3 Force Simulation

This example shows a force-directed layout with 100 randomly connected nodes rendered as steelblue circles on an SVG canvas. The code creates nodes and links with random positions and connections using `d3.range` and `Math.random`. It uses `d3.select` to bind data and append circle elements with `attr` calls for positioning and styling. However, the simulation itself is not implemented—no `d3.forceSimulation` is invoked, so the graph remains static rather than animated. The visualization relies on D3 v4 and renders entirely via SVG.

This example presents a force-directed network graph where circular nodes, colored teal and labeled with text, are connected by light-gray links. The layout is computed using `d3.forceSimulation`, with `d3.forceLink` for edges, `d3.forceManyBody` for repulsion, and `d3.forceCenter` to keep the graph centered. Node positions update on each simulation tick, adjusting the circle and label coordinates via `attr`. The data is loaded as JSON from a GitHub gist, and the visualization is rendered as an SVG inside a React-prepared HTML page using D3 v4.

D3 Force Simulation

This example shows a static scatterplot-style network diagram of 100 randomly generated nodes and links, rendered as steelblue circles on an SVG canvas. The code defines node positions and link endpoints using `d3.range` and `Math.random`, then appends circles via `svg.selectAll(".node").data().enter()`. Although the title suggests a force simulation, the visible code does not invoke `d3.forceSimulation`, leaving the layout fixed; the example relies on D3 v4 for data binding and SVG element creation.

This example uses a custom JavaScript implementation with the D3.js library to render a small collection of user-supplied x,y coordinates as a scatterplot. The code computes an attraction-repulsion force simulation via a bespoke `d3.forceSimulation`-like routine, drawing nodes and connecting edges on an SVG canvas. The five data points (100,100; 130,120; 80,180; 180,80; 180,40) are displayed without axes or labels, clearly showing their relative spatial arrangement and the network structure formed by the force-directed layout. The rendering relies on SVG `<circle>` and `<line>` elements, with interaction limited to the static initial placement.

d3v4 try

This example demonstrates a force-directed network graph rendered with SVG, where nodes represent entities, attributes, and relations from a JSON graph dataset. Users can zoom and pan the visualization, and right-clicking a node opens a custom context menu with actions. The implementation uses d3.forceSimulation with forceLink, forceManyBody, and forceCenter for layout, while nodes are styled as colored rectangles or small shapes based on their type. A React starter framework and d3.v4 APIs handle dynamic sizing and positioning of shapes and text labels.

force_node_simple

This example shows a simple force-directed network graph rendered as SVG, displaying labeled circular nodes and weighted links. It loads node and link data from a JSON file and uses the d3.layout.force API from d3.v2 to simulate physics with configurable gravity, distance, and charge. Each link’s stroke width reflects its weight value, and nodes are draggable via d3.force.drag. A tick handler updates line coordinates and node transforms continuously.
