This example visualizes average monthly temperatures in Nottingham, England from 1920 to 1939 using a smooth, gradient-filled area chart. The chart animates its path from the baseline to its final position using `d3.transition`. Built with D3 v4, it employs `d3.area` with `d3.curveCardinal` for smoothing, `d3.scaleTime` and `d3.scaleLinear` for axes, and a CSS linear gradient with `d3.interpolateCool` for color stops. Data comes from the Rdatasets CSV file.

AI-generated description

Average temperature in of Nottingham, England 1920-39. I'm assuming it is °F as the data doesn't specify. Data from https://vincentarelbundock.github.io/Rdatasets/datasets.html

Making use of d3.area and playing around with colors.

Also, I didn't anticipate this to look so jagged so I will probably add a brush to it later.
