This example demonstrates a unit conversion tool that transforms Fahrenheit temperatures displayed within code snippets on a web page into Celsius. It functions as a bookmarklet, operating directly on the page's DOM by selecting all `<code>` elements whose content includes the "°F" symbol. The script then parses the numeric value, applies the standard conversion formula `(F-32)*5/9`, rounds the result, and replaces the original text with the equivalent Celsius value. The implementation leverages the JavaScript DOM API, including `document.querySelectorAll` and array filtering, to target and modify the specific HTML elements.

locale semi-agnostic string to float conversion [JavaScript]

This example demonstrates a JavaScript utility for converting strings to floating-point numbers, designed to be locale semi-agnostic. It shows how the function handles various numeric formats, including European decimal commas, thousands separators, and ambiguous cases like “1.000” or “2,999.95”, returning numeric values or `NaN` for invalid inputs. The code uses the `toLocaleString()` method to detect the current locale’s decimal and thousands separators, then applies heuristic rules to interpret strings based on separator placement and digit counts. A MooTools click handler triggers the conversion examples, logging results to the console, with an accompanying HTML page featuring a product price display.

fCC D3 Project #3: Heat Map Project

This heat map visualizes global land temperatures from 1753 to 2015, with each cell representing a month-year combination colored by its deviation from a baseline of 8.66°C. The SVG rendering uses D3.js scales for axes and color mapping, fetching data from freeCodeCamp’s GitHub repository. Tooltips and a legend are implemented to show exact values on hover, while the color gradient divides temperature ranges into nine discrete categories via a custom `applyColor` function.

Code golf

This example presents a JavaScript "code golf" function that converts a human age into equivalent cat and dog ages. The visualization itself is the code, intended for a gallery showcasing terse programming. The code uses a nested ternary operator and an arrow function to calculate the conversions, with `alert()` providing the output. It validates the input using `parseFloat` and a comparison check, returning "Invalid" for non-positive or non-numeric values. The data source is the gist file `gistfile1.txt` by MikeyParton.

All the parts we use to convert dates on the page to local times

This example shows a set of JavaScript functions that convert date and time displays on a webpage into a user’s local timezone, and also classifies the age of each timestamp relative to the current moment. The code uses the jQuery library to select and modify DOM elements, calling methods like `$.parseUTCDate` and `$.edate.timeAgoInWords` to handle date parsing and formatting. It assigns CSS classes such as `age-new` or `age-fresh` based on the computed time difference, and updates the text content of each timestamp span accordingly. The data source is the timestamp text within the page’s HTML elements, processed entirely client-side.

number exercises

This example visualizes the outcomes of several JavaScript exercise functions, each testing a specific computation. It shows whether functions like `computeArea`, temperature converters `celsToFahr` and `fahrToCels`, and `isDivisible` produce expected results. The code relies on native JavaScript functions and console logging to report pass or fail statuses, with no external libraries or data sources. The rendering approach is purely textual, using `console.log` output to display success or failure messages for each test case, making the results immediately visible in the console.

Fork of do you feel the heat2

This example presents a minimal HTML page that displays a stylized question, "DO YOU FEEL THE HEAT?", alongside a numeric scale ranging from 1 to 5. The visualization incorporates a linear gradient bar and simple line elements to suggest a color or intensity scale. The page is structured as an SVG graphic with embedded CSS for styling text, using the Roboto font. The layout includes an iframe that embeds an external Observable notebook, integrating interactive content alongside the static SVG elements within the same page.

Untitled

This example demonstrates the use of vanilla JavaScript and CSS to handle basic user input and display dynamic text on a web page. It shows a prompt-based grade calculator that assigns letter grades (A through F) based on a numeric score, along with corresponding feedback messages, and also displays the current day of the week using a switch statement on `new Date().getDay()`. The page uses `document.write()` for output and a simple `style.css` file with a custom `g2` element style, though no React or specific data-visualization libraries are involved.

This example demonstrates two JavaScript methods for converting between JavaScript objects and JSON format. It uses the native `JSON.parse()` function to transform a JSON string into an object, then accesses its properties to display "John, 30" via `document.getElementById().innerHTML`. A second example uses `JSON.stringify()` to convert a JavaScript array of names into a JSON string for output. The code relies on standard JavaScript APIs and renders results directly into HTML elements, illustrating basic data serialization without external libraries.
