This visualization displays a real-time countdown to 9 AM the following day, rendered as large monospaced text in the center of the page. The code uses d3.time.format to produce a timestamp string, d3.time.day and d3.time.day.offset to compute the deadline, and d3.time.second to calculate the remaining time. A recursive tick function updates the text every second using setTimeout, refreshing the display with the current difference between the deadline and the present moment.

Stopwatch

A digital stopwatch displays elapsed time in hours, minutes, and seconds, updating every second with a monospace font. The page uses D3.js selection and formatting APIs—specifically `d3.select` and `d3.format`—to update the text content of the body element. A `setInterval` callback increments a counter each second, and the formatted time is rendered as a colon-separated string.

Clock

A real-time analog clock displays hour, minute, second, and millisecond hands against an outer ring and central hub. The visualization uses d3.v4 and d3-component to structure the SVG as reusable nested components, with each hand rendered as a rotated line element. A d3.timer callback updates the rotation transforms based on time elapsed since midnight, while the component lifecycle manages the timer’s creation and cleanup on destroy. The example demonstrates optimized component-based animation without external data sources.

T-minus Time

This example shows a rocket-launch countdown timeline spanning one minute before and five minutes after a specified epoch, with axis labels formatted as T-minus and T-plus relative times. The visualization uses two UTC time scales in d3.v3: a primary scale for positioning in absolute time and a translated scale solely to compute tick values relative to the epoch. The SVG axis is rendered with d3.svg.axis and a custom tickFormat function, while toRelative and toAbsolute convert between the two time spaces.

Retro Clock

A retro-styled animated clock displays a series of date-time strings, each formatted as "08h15 01.07.2022". The visualization cycles through these markers every second, showing how characters rotate in and out of a rectangular frame using a D3 mask. Built with D3 v7, the SVG text elements transition vertically via `transition.attr()` to simulate a mechanical flip-clock effect. The string data is hardcoded in the script, and the clock aligns to the right within the canvas layout.

Braille Clock

A Braille clock displays the current time in six-digit Braille format, with each digit rendered as a 2x3 grid of raised dots on a tactile-style interface. The visualization uses D3.js v4 to generate SVG circles for the Braille cells and applies CSS transitions to toggle their lit or unlit states, driven by a recursive `tick()` function that updates every second. The code employs D3 selections and data binding to map hour, minute, and second values to the appropriate dot patterns, while SVG gradients and filter effects simulate a physical, embossed surface under ambient light.

Digital Clock

A digital clock displays the current time in hours, minutes, and seconds using seven-segment digits. The same SVG is rendered twice: a blurred underlay provides a glow effect, while a sharp overlay shows the lit segments in bright green. The code clones the SVG node and uses D3’s data join with an array of digit patterns to toggle the `lit` class on each path, updating every second via a recursive `tick` function.

Multicolored Clock

The Multicolored Clock visualizes time as a nested set of seven animated arc segments, each representing seconds, minutes, hours, day, date, month, and a static credit ring. The arcs smoothly transition every second using elastic easing, with colors interpolating across an HSL spectrum based on each unit’s current value via a linear scale. Built with D3 v3, it uses `d3.svg.arc`, `attrTween` for value interpolation, and `textPath` to label each ring. Data is generated live from the JavaScript `Date` object, rendered as SVG with continuous animation.

Monday-based Calendar

This example shows daily stock price changes for the Dow Jones Industrial Average from 2010, displayed in a calendar view where each cell represents a day and color intensity reflects the percent change between open and close prices. The visualization uses D3.js version 3 with SVG rendering, drawing one calendar per year from 1990 to 2010. Unlike the standard Sunday-based calendar, this adaptation modifies the `day` and `week` functions—using `%W` for Monday-based week numbering and shifting `getDay()` by six—so that weeks begin on Monday. The code uses `d3.time.days` and `d3.time.months` to generate the grid, `d3.scale.quantize` to map returns to colors, and `d3.nest` to aggregate the CSV data by date.
