A Makeover Monday visualization of YouTube gaming channels, grouped by letter grade (A-plus through C-and-D), plots each channel's video views against its rank using a force-directed scatterplot. A dropdown menu highlights a selected user’s circle and dims others. Built with D3 v4, it uses `d3.forceSimulation` with `forceX` and `forceCollide` to position overlapping circles along a shared axis, with separate axes for channel ratings. Data comes from a CSV file containing rank, subscriber count, and video views.

Makeover Monday - YouTube ratings

This visualization displays YouTube gaming channel data from a Makeover Monday dataset, comparing video views and subscriber counts across different channel ratings (A+ through D). Each horizontal barcode line represents one channel, with PaleVioletRed marks for video views and OliveDrab marks for subscribers, both scaled linearly from zero to their respective maximums. The chart separates channels by rating category, showing n-counts per group. Using d3.v4, it builds SVG barcode charts with d3.axisTop tick formatting and d3.nest for hierarchical grouping. A dropdown menu and mouseover interactions trigger a highlight function that raises and increases the opacity of the selected channel’s lines.

Makeover Monday - YouTube ratings - beeswarm plot

The visualization uses a beeswarm plot to compare YouTube gaming channels by their ratings, showing each channel as a circle positioned along an axis for video views and another for subscriber count. It includes a dropdown to select a specific user, which highlights that user's circles across the different rating categories while dimming others. Built with d3.v4, the layout uses `d3.forceSimulation` with `d3.forceX` and `d3.forceY` to arrange the circles, and the SVG rendering includes custom axes and labels for billions of views and millions of subscribers. The underlying data comes from a CSV file with columns for rank, rating, user, subscribers, and video views.

Histogramme des pépites

This grouped bar chart compares viewer ratings across multiple YouTube channels, with each channel’s score broken down by four individuals. The visualization highlights differences in opinion for each show, including negative values for disliked content. The chart is built with D3 v4, using `d3.scaleBand` for the categorical axes and `d3.scaleLinear` for the value axis. Data is loaded from a CSV file, and each bar’s height corresponds to the rating, with colors assigned via `d3.scaleOrdinal`. SVG rendering and D3’s axis components handle the visual layout.

Histogramme des pépites

This interactive histogram displays the total "nugget" scores for various YouTube channels, with each channel’s bar color-coded by author. The chart uses a grouped bar layout where each channel’s score is broken down by four reviewers, and the y-axis represents the cumulative score. Data from the CSV file is parsed with `d3.csv`, and the visualization is built with `d3.scaleBand` for the x-axis groups and `d3.scaleLinear` for the y-axis, rendered as SVG rectangles within a `<g>` element. The code also calls `d3.axisBottom` and `d3.axisLeft` to label the axes, with styling applied via CSS.

Histogramme des pépites

This visualization displays a grouped bar chart comparing viewer ratings across multiple YouTube channels, with each channel represented by a cluster of bars for different hosts. The chart shows both positive and negative values, with bars extending above and below the baseline to reflect each host’s score. The code uses D3 v4 with SVG rendering, employing `d3.scaleBand` for the categorical x-axes and `d3.scaleLinear` for the y-axis. Data is loaded from a CSV file via `d3.csv`, and the ordinal color scale maps each host to a distinct color.

Fork of HTML Starter-ic6

This scatter plot visualizes YouTube channel analytics, mapping total views on the x-axis against watch time in hours on the y-axis. Each circle represents a week of data, with hover interactions revealing a tooltip containing additional metrics like likes, comments, and subscriber gains. The visualization uses d3.scaleLinear for axes and d3.axisBottom/axisLeft for tick marks, while circles animate into place via d3.transition. Data is loaded from a remote CSV file using d3.csv, and the SVG rendering incorporates a dark theme with responsive sizing.

SCATTER PLO SUBHASH

A reusable scatter plot built with D3.js visualizes YouTube channel analytics, mapping metrics like views, likes, and watch time onto x and y axes. An animated loop rotates the x-axis dimension every two seconds, letting users explore correlations across five variables. The SVG renders circles positioned via `d3.scaleLinear` and `d3.extent`, with axes from `d3.axisLeft` and `d3.axisBottom`. Data is loaded from a CSV gist, normalized, and parsed with `d3.csvParse` and `d3.text`.
