This map visualizes Finland's geographic shape using GeoJSON data loaded from a local file and rendered as an SVG. The code uses D3.js version 3.5.5, employing `d3.geo.path` to generate map paths and a transverse Mercator projection applied via `d3.geo.transverseMercator` with specific rotation and translation parameters. The map is displayed inside an SVG element sized to 500 by 300 pixels, with each feature drawn from the `finland.json` source file.

Fork of Let's make finland a map with D3.js!

This example renders a world map using D3.js and the TopoJSON library from the `world-atlas` dataset. It draws a sphere as a blue background and countries as light-green filled paths with subtle black strokes. The code uses `d3.geoPath` with a `geoNaturalEarth1` projection, and it loads geographic data from a remote JSON file. It demonstrates how to project geographic coordinates and display vector-based map features in an SVG container.

Fork of ICE - 8 Making Maps (Country Map) Finland

This example displays France as a single green country on a blue background, projected using the Mercator projection centered on coordinates [2, 47]. The visualization uses D3’s `d3.geoMercator` and `d3.geoPath` to convert geographic coordinates into SVG paths, sourcing country boundaries from the world-atlas TopoJSON dataset. The code filters the original GeoJSON for France’s name property and renders it with a light-green fill and black stroke.

map

A map of Estonian counties rendered as an SVG using React and D3. The visualization uses a Mercator projection via `d3.geoMercator` and `d3.geoPath` with `fitExtent` to scale the map to the viewport. County boundaries are drawn as brown filled paths with darker stroke outlines, while interior borders are highlighted using a TopoJSON mesh. The geographic data is loaded from a remote TopoJSON file and processed with `feature` and `mesh` from the topojson library.

Mercator Projection

This example displays a world map using a Mercator projection, with each country rendered as a gray shape outlined in white. The map is built with the D3.js version 3 library, using `d3.geo.mercator()` to define the projection and `d3.geo.path()` to convert GeoJSON geometries into SVG paths. The geographical data comes from a `countries.json` file containing feature collections loaded via `d3.json()`. The resulting visualization, rendered in an SVG element, demonstrates the classic distortion of landmasses toward the poles inherent to this projection method.

Let's make a map with D3.js!

This example shows a simple world map rendered as an SVG, with countries filled in light green against a blue ocean sphere. The code uses D3 v5’s `geoMercator` projection and `geoPath` to draw geographic features, while TopoJSON’s `feature` method extracts country boundaries from the world-atlas dataset. Country paths are appended dynamically after loading the 110m resolution GeoJSON via a promise, with styling applied through CSS classes.

Map.js!

This map visualization displays the world’s countries by using a Mercator projection to render geographic features as filled SVG paths on a light gray sphere background. The code loads country boundaries from the world-atlas TopoJSON dataset and converts them to GeoJSON with `topojson.feature`, then draws each country using `d3.geoPath`. Styling applies a blue fill with dark strokes and a subtle opacity, while the hidden overflow and full-bleed body create an immersive, full-window presentation.

Map with D3.js

This visualization displays a world map using a natural Earth projection, with country boundaries rendered as filled SVG shapes. The sphere outline is drawn first using a `geoPath` generator with an empty GeoJSON sphere object. Country features are loaded from the World Atlas TopoJSON dataset via `d3.json` and converted using `topojson.feature`. The map uses `d3.geoNaturalEarth1` for projection and `d3.geoPath` for path generation, with countries colored steelblue against a white background.

Let's make a MAP!

This map visualizes world countries as SVG paths on a Mercator projection. The example loads geographic data from a world-atlas JSON file, converts it into TopoJSON features, and renders each country as a path element. It uses D3's `geoPath` and `geoMercator` to project the coordinates, while the TopoJSON `feature` API extracts the country boundaries from the dataset.
