This example shows a basic interactive map centered on a view of New York City, with the Mapbox streets basemap displayed at zoom level 9. The map is rendered in a full-screen HTML page using the Mapbox.js library, which initializes the map object via `L.mapbox.map` and sets the geographic coordinates and zoom level with `.setView`. The map uses a public access token from the author Jn1532 to load the tiles.

Lots of points in Mapbox Basemap - Test

This example demonstrates a Mapbox GL map with a tilted and rotated view centered on the New York City area. It shows how the map’s basemap style can be dynamically switched via a custom control panel overlaid on the map. The page uses the Mapbox GL JS API to initialize the map with a specific style, pitch, bearing, and zoom level, while the `switchLayer` function updates the map’s style based on user input. A transparent title box with radio buttons allows selection among different style layers, and the Navigation control adds zoom and rotation controls.

Gist 6b515fcc2b7c6479d9c31059140eb611

This example displays a full-screen interactive map of the contiguous United States, centered on the country’s geographic midpoint using Mapbox GL JS. The map uses a custom Mapbox style and includes a navigation control for zoom and rotation. The viewport is constrained to the bounding box spanning from the Southwest to the Northeast corners of the lower 48 states. The code sets an initial zoom level and center coordinates derived from that bounding box, but does not load or visualize any external data layers.

This example displays a Mapbox GL JS map centered on Houston, Texas, at zoom level 10, with a set of airfield-style symbol markers plotted over a custom vector tile source. The visualization uses `map.addSource` to load a hosted vector tileset containing school location data and `map.addLayer` to render those points as icons via the `symbol` layer type. A collapsible overlay panel and a menu for switching map views are included, though the menu’s active state and overlay content are not populated in the provided code. The map style is a custom Mapbox style URL.

iSchool GeoVisualization Workshop

This example shows a blank dark-themed Mapbox map centered on New York City, with no visible data layers or points of interest. The visualization is a workshop template, so the map is intentionally empty, waiting for users to add their own geographic data. It loads a Mapbox GL map with a navigation control, using Mapbox’s dark style and an access token for tile access. The code references a local GeoJSON dataset of NYC crashes as a remote URL, but the data is not yet drawn on the map, making this a starting point for hands-on geovisualization exercises.

Map Practice HTML Starter

This example displays an interactive map centered on San Francisco using the ArcGIS API for JavaScript, with an “arcgis-light-gray” basemap loaded from ArcGIS services. The MapView is configured with a specific longitude, latitude, and zoom level to frame the initial view. The page relies on the ArcGIS `esri/Map` and `esri/views/MapView` modules, while a basic HTML structure and CSS ensure the map fills the viewport. A simple JavaScript console log statement demonstrates basic interactivity for developers.

h3 Hexagon Basemap

This example displays a Mapbox GL-based interactive map of the United States, centered on the continental bounds with zoom controls. It shows a blank basemap initially, but the code includes a `zoomend` event listener, suggesting the map updates dynamically on zoom changes. The map uses Mapbox GL JS v1.3.1 and a custom Mapbox style, with a bounding box defined by southwest and northeast coordinates. Navigation controls are added, and the map is rendered in a full-screen container. The data source is a Mapbox-hosted style, and the interaction is handled through Mapbox’s API.

Map test

This example displays a full-screen interactive map embedded from Carto Builder, presenting geographic data in a standard tiled web-mapping interface. The page itself uses an iframe element to load the external Carto visualization, while D3 v4 is loaded via a script tag but is not actively used for rendering or interaction. The map includes pan and zoom controls provided by the Carto platform, and the overall layout is fixed to the viewport with zero margins for a seamless presentation. The code primarily demonstrates a simple integration pattern between a hosting page and a third-party mapping service, rather than a custom D3 visualization.

Leaflet - default

This example displays a full-screen interactive map of the United States, centered on the country with an initial zoom level of five. It uses the Leaflet JavaScript library to create the map view and a tile layer from Esri’s NatGeoWorldMap, providing detailed geographic and political boundaries. The map relies on the `L.map` and `L.tileLayer` APIs, with tile URLs and attribution sourced from the vizjs.org helper library. The page sets the map container to occupy the entire viewport, allowing users to pan and zoom freely across the rendered tiles.
