This example shows how a fantasy football team automatically selects a replacement player after an injury, using a weighted random choice. It calculates an “in_weight” score based on a player’s difficulty, form, and cost, then samples one candidate from the remaining eligible players. The code reads team and player data from CSV and JSON files in Amazon S3, processes it with pandas, and uploads the chosen player’s details back to S3. It relies on the `fpl_utils` helper for authenticated API calls, S3 operations, and SNS notifications, while AWS Lambda triggers the workflow.
