This visualization compares Sweden’s 20 seats in the European Parliament against the 751 total members, using a waffle chart of colored blocks. Each block represents one seat, with Swedish seats highlighted by a black border and full opacity, while other countries’ seats appear faded. D3 v4 selects and appends block divs to render the overview and per-party breakdowns, with data structured by political group and nation.

Fork of Cars Scatter Plotgbh

This chart displays the results of a parliamentary election using a semicircular seating plan, with each seat colored by party affiliation. The data, representing the 2019 UK general election, is rendered as an SVG using the D3.js library via the `d3.parliament()` API. The code animates the entering seats from the center and supports click interactions on individual seats, with the car dataset sourced from the UCI Machine Learning Repository.

Three waffle charts compare party percentages, each rendered as a 10-by-10 grid of 100 squares, with filled cells in party colors (steelblue, red, green) and unfilled cells in gray. Each chart labels its party and value, such as “M 72%,” using d3 v4 selections to append SVG `<rect>` elements and `<text>` labels. The code derives square positions via nested `for` loops and applies CSS classes for coloring, with the source data hardcoded in a `scores` array.

This visualization displays a map of Sweden's counties (län) using D3.js with SVG rendering. The map is projected using a Mercator projection fitted to a 400x400 canvas, with each Swedish county drawn as a separate path from TopoJSON geographic data. The code loads the map data from an external 'lan.json' TopoJSON file and uses d3.geoMercator to project the geographic coordinates, automatically scaling the map to fit the specified dimensions.

Fork off

A parliament chart displays the distribution of seats in the UK House of Commons, with each party represented by a colored arc of semicircular dots. The visualization uses the d3-parliament library, which builds on D3.js, to render the seating layout as an SVG. Clicking any seat triggers an alert identifying the party. Data is provided as an array of party objects containing seat counts and colors, with animation entering seats from the center in order of increasing size.

Untitled

This interactive visualization presents the results of Singapore’s 2020 general election, showing popular vote shares by party in a pie chart alongside constituency-level maps and tables. Users can switch between tabs for overall results, single-member constituencies (SMCs), group representation constituencies (GRCs), and party breakdowns. The code uses d3.pie and d3.arc to generate the animated pie chart, while d3.geoPath renders the geographic maps from TopoJSON data. Tooltips, implemented via d3-tip, display additional details on hover, and the CSV data is loaded and bound to the visual elements.

TP 6 DataViz 2

A force-directed network graph maps voting patterns among French National Assembly members, filtering links to those with at least 15 shared votes. Nodes are colored by political group and labeled with member names and affiliations. The visualization uses D3 v4’s `d3.forceSimulation`, `d3.forceLink`, and `d3.forceManyBody` with SVG rendering. Data comes from the `scrutins.json` parliamentary roll-call votes and `acteurs_simple2.json` member metadata, loaded via the `queue` library.

Gender Inequality Indices

This scatterplot shows the relationship between women’s educational attainment (x-axis) and their share of parliamentary seats (y-axis) across countries, with each circle colored by region using a category20 scale. Hovering reveals a country’s name and parliamentary share via a tooltip. Built with D3 v3, the SVG visualization uses d3.scale.linear for both axes, d3.svg.axis for tick formatting, and loads data from a local CSV file.

Gender Inequality Indices

This visualization displays the percentage of parliamentary seats held by women for each country, ranked in descending order as a horizontal bar chart. The bars are rendered as SVG rectangles, with each bar's length proportional to the country's share of seats. The chart uses D3 version 3, fetching data from a local CSV file containing UN gender inequality data. Hovering over a bar reveals a tooltip with the country name and its exact parliamentary share percentage.
