This visualization displays the relative length and ranking of terms and conditions statements from Northern Tool & Equipment, with each row representing a document. The bars show the rank of each statement against the normalized position of its first word within the full text. Built with D3.js, the code uses `d3.nest()` to group statements by document, calculates word positions with custom JavaScript, and renders small multiple charts using SVG `rect` elements, scaled with `d3.scale.linear()`. Data comes from the CSV file `TnCStatements_rank_update2.csv`.

location-importance

This visualization shows the relative importance of each statement in a Terms and Conditions document by plotting them as vertical bars along a horizontal axis. Each bar’s height and vertical position encode the statement’s rank, while the horizontal position corresponds to the statement’s location within the text. The data is sourced from a CSV file containing ranked statements. Built with D3.js, the code uses `d3.nest()` to group data by company, `d3.scale.linear()` for axes, and `d3.svg.line()` for the line generator, rendering the output as an SVG.

Gist 19433185a6aa63896a0e

This visualization presents a horizontal bar chart that ranks items by value, with bars extending from a central baseline. The chart is built using the D3.js library, specifically leveraging `d3.select` and `d3.scale` for data binding and scaling. The bar lengths are computed from a simple array of numeric values, and the chart includes value labels positioned at the end of each bar. The rendering relies on SVG primitives created through D3’s DOM manipulation, with a clean, minimal aesthetic that focuses on the rank order of the data points.

Fork of iCE 6 PART 1

This horizontal bar chart shows the top ten brands ranked by their popularity score, with each bar’s length proportional to the score and a color gradient from light to dark teal indicating rank. The data, loaded from a CSV Gist via `d3.csv` and `d3.autoType`, is sorted descending and sliced to ten entries. Built with D3 v7, the visualization uses `d3.scaleLinear` for the x-axis, `d3.scaleBand` for the y-axis categories, and `d3.axisBottom`/`d3.axisLeft` for gridlines and labels. Alternating background bands and value labels are rendered as SVG elements.

bar negative table #2

This example presents a table of margin values for four locations, using horizontal bars to compare positive and negative results. Each row shows a location name beside a bar extending left or right from a central zero line, colored dark orange for negative values and steel blue for positive ones. A third column summarizes each entry with a label like “Humpty” or “Dumpty” and the absolute value. Built with D3 v3, it uses `d3.scale.linear`, `d3.tsv` for data loading, and SVG elements such as `rect` and `line` to draw the bars and gridlines.

Activity6_2

This stacked horizontal bar chart displays customer satisfaction ratings for six product categories, with segments representing the percentage of ratings falling into five ranges from below 2.0 to above 4.5. The visualization uses D3 v7 to load CSV data and render SVG elements. Categories appear on the y-axis, while a linear x-axis shows the proportion for each rating band. An ordinal color scale distinguishes rating levels, and interactive tooltips display the exact percentage for each segment on hover. The chart includes axis labels, a title, and a legend.

activity6_task2

A stacked horizontal bar chart displays customer satisfaction ratings across five product categories, with segments representing the percentage of responses in each rating level from "Excellent" to "Very Poor." The visualization uses D3 v7 with SVG rendering, employing `d3.stack()` to compute stacked series, `d3.scaleLinear` for the x-axis, `d3.scaleBand` for product categories, and `d3.scaleOrdinal` for color mapping. Interactive tooltips appear on mouseover, showing the exact percentage for each rating segment. Data comes from a local CSV file loaded asynchronously.

This example shows a bar chart of the three most frequently occurring words in the names of hotels and other businesses, derived from a CSV file of entity names with incorporation and dissolution dates. The visualization processes the data by splitting each name into individual terms, counting occurrences, and sorting to identify the top terms for display. A bar chart renders these top terms as a bar chart using D3 v5, with scales and axes created via `scaleBand`, `scaleLinear`, `axisLeft`, and `axisBottom`, drawing SVG rectangles for each bar. The chart only displays the top three terms, as the other data handling is commented out.

Activity6_Questn2

This stacked bar chart displays the distribution of public ratings across ten political topics, with each topic’s bar normalized to 100%. The visualization uses D3.js v7’s `d3.stack`, `d3.scaleBand`, and `d3.scaleLinear` APIs, rendering as SVG. Data is loaded from a CSV file, and each segment’s percentage is revealed via a tooltip on hover. The legend and color-coded segments clarify the five rating categories, from “very low” to “very high.” The chart employs ordinal color scales and axis labels to present the categorical proportions clearly.
