This example checks whether it is nearly the weekend by scraping the message from the website estcequecestbientotleweekend.fr. It uses a Yahoo Query Language (YQL) request to fetch the HTML content of the page, extracting the text inside the `<p id='msg'>` element, then displays that result in a JavaScript alert. The code loads jQuery via a script injection and relies on RequireJS to manage module dependencies, with the YQL query encoded as a JSONP callback.

This example shows a web-based import status monitor for a golf offers admin interface. It uses jQuery’s `$.getJSON` to poll a server-side job state and updates the page’s activity area with a spinner, success, or failure message. The animation, a 5-second interval-driven poller, is powered by `setInterval`, while dynamic HTML is injected via the jQuery `html()` method. The code relies on a custom `GAImporter` object and a JSON API, rendering text and icons rather than chart elements.

This example demonstrates how to query the Google Timezone API for a given latitude, longitude, timestamp, and sensor flag, then display the resulting time zone ID in an alert. It shows the data flow from a user-submitted form to an API response, with the result printed to the browser console and as a popup. The implementation uses jQuery for form handling and AJAX requests, and wraps the Google Timezone API in a custom YQL table (defined in an XML file) so the client-side JavaScript can access it cross-origin. The timestamp defaults to the current Unix time if left blank.

This example demonstrates how a single-page application skeleton is transformed from a static document into an interactive, AJAX-driven experience. The visualization shows a list of user-submitted code entries, with each entry dynamically loaded and rendered without a full page refresh. The implementation uses jQuery’s `$.ajax` method to fetch the `lucky_ajax.md` file and other resources, then updates the DOM with the retrieved content. The code also relies on JavaScript’s `Promise` API for handling asynchronous responses, and highlights the use of `XMLHttpRequest` for network communication. The data source is the downloaded application skeleton, whose structure is revealed through the fetched files. The example focuses on the interaction between client-side scripting and server responses.

This example shows a JavaScript application skeleton converted to use AJAX, with the updated files provided as a gist. The code demonstrates an asynchronous data-loading pattern, fetching external resources via `XMLHttpRequest` or a similar AJAX mechanism. It relies on standard browser APIs for handling responses and updating the page content dynamically. The visualization aspect is minimal, focusing instead on the structural change from a static app to one that retrieves data on demand. The author lists the modified files and includes instructions for downloading the original skeleton, making the gist a practical exercise in refactoring for asynchronous behavior.

This example shows a playful web page that encourages the weekend with the German message "Heute sollte Freitag sein <3" ("Today should be Friday"). A button labeled "Skip to the weekend" toggles a pink background color on both the message and the button itself. The visualization relies on plain DOM manipulation via `document.querySelector` and the `classList.toggle` method to switch CSS classes. Styling is handled entirely with CSS, using grid layout and hover effects, while no external visualization libraries or data sources are involved.

Fork of HTML Starter, Hello World

This example uses a plain HTML page built with JavaScript to show a playful message about the weekend. It displays a large text saying “Heute sollte Freitag sein” (Today should be Friday) on a light yellow background. Clicking a button toggles the color scheme between dark blue and pink for both the message and the button. The interaction relies on core JavaScript DOM selection and classList toggling, with no external libraries or data sources.

This example demonstrates a command-line weather forecast script that outputs tomorrow’s predicted condition, high, and low temperatures for a fixed location. It first retrieves the location name and forecast data from the Yahoo Weather API, then prints the relevant details. The code uses Python’s `json` and `urllib2` modules to fetch and parse the JSON response, with the WOEID hardcoded for Newcastle. No graphical visualization is involved; the script simply prints text results to the console.

This example demonstrates a minimal HTML page that uses CoffeeScript to show a simple alert message saying “yay!” upon loading. The page includes the CoffeeScript compiler from a remote source and embeds a script block with the `type="text/coffeescript"` attribute, which the compiler processes in the browser. It relies on the CoffeeScript library to translate the inline code to JavaScript, and the alert is triggered immediately when the page renders. No external data or visualization is involved.
