This bookmarklet restores standard text-selection and right-click behavior in Kindle Cloud Reader, where a nested iframe normally blocks these actions. It loads jQuery 1.3.2 via a dynamically created script tag, then traverses the iframe structure with `$('iframe').contents().find('iframe')` to locate the inner document. The code clears the `onclick` handler, sets `-webkit-user-select` to `auto` on the body, and removes `oncontextmenu` and `onselectstart` event handlers, enabling normal copy, selection, and context-menu functionality.

Fair-ly useful, quick and dirty bookmarklet for removing a div with `#subscription-overlay` and taking `overflow:hidden` off the body.

This example demonstrates a quick, practical workaround for removing a paywall-style subscription overlay from a webpage. The code uses jQuery to select and delete the element with the ID `subscription-overlay`, then resets the body’s CSS `overflow` property from `hidden` to `visible`. It relies on the jQuery library’s `remove()` method and the `css()` method for style manipulation. The example shows a minimal, single-purpose bookmarklet that directly targets a specific DOM structure without additional data or rendering logic.

D3 Bookmarklet

This example demonstrates a bookmarklet that injects D3.js into any webpage by appending a dynamically created script element to the document head. The code specifically loads D3 version 3 from the d3js.org CDN using the `document.createElement` and `document.head.appendChild` APIs. It shows how to enable D3 functionality on pages that do not already have it, making the library available for future interactions. The bookmarklet relies solely on this script injection mechanism, with no additional data or visualization logic included.

browsing tools dotjs snippets

This example shows a collection of JavaScript snippets that add keyboard and mouse shortcuts to specific websites, such as Forrst and Dribbble. It demonstrates how jQuery is used to bind click handlers to page elements, triggering navigation to the next paginated page, and how a custom keydown handler detects the Control key to open a Dribbble shot in a new window. The code relies on jQuery selectors and CSS properties to identify active elements, and it uses `document.location` for redirection. The snippets are designed for the dotjs browser extension, which injects user scripts into matching sites.

[building-blocks](http://github.com/enjalot/building-blocks)

A bookmarklet that redirects any bl.ocks.org or gist.github.com URL to the corresponding page on blockbuilder.org. The page displays a draggable link, which users add to their bookmark bar. It uses JavaScript string replacement via `window.location` and `String.replace` to rewrite the URL, requiring no external libraries beyond the included D3 3.5.5 script, though the code does not rely on D3 for its core functionality.

Remove Kibana Auto Complete Bar

This example removes the autocomplete bar from a Kibana search interface. It runs as a userscript that attaches a click event listener to the page. On each click, the script uses jQuery to select the search input, then unbinds the `change`, `focus`, and `keydown` events to disable the autocomplete behavior. The code executes by injecting a function into the page context via a `script` element, and it relies on `document.addEventListener` and `window.jQuery` to target the input field.

Detach video bookmarklet: javascript:(function (src) {var s;s=document.createElement('script');s.src=src;document.body.appendChild(s);}('https://gist.githubusercontent.com/abernier/9730666/raw/detachvideo.js'));)

This bookmarklet detaches the largest video element from a webpage and reopens it in a separate pop-up window sized to its original dimensions, preserving the viewer’s context while hiding the surrounding page. The code uses the DOM API (`querySelectorAll`, `getBoundingClientRect`) to sort all `video`, `object`, and `iframe` tags by area, then opens the video’s URL (or the iframe’s `src`) via `window.open`. After load, it scrolls the pop-up to match the original video’s position and sets `overflow` to `hidden` on both the body and its parent, isolating the playback. The script relies on plain JavaScript, with no external libraries.

Firebug : go to canvas!

This example shows how to redirect Firebug’s command-line context to Facebook’s canvas iframe, enabling direct JavaScript and jQuery selector access from the console. The code executes a single Firebug API call, `cd($$(".canvas_iframe_util")[0].contentWindow)`, which uses `$$` to select the first iframe with the class `canvas_iframe_util` and then switches the console’s working window to that iframe’s content. It relies on Firebug’s built-in command-line functions rather than external libraries. The snippet is derived from a Stack Overflow answer and also includes a bookmarklet version for one-click activation.

Gist b995be5f5dd35af1b422

This example demonstrates a bookmarklet that appends a user-defined string to the end of the current URL. It shows the effect of redirecting the browser to the modified address when activated from a bookmark. The code uses the native `window.location.href` property in JavaScript to read and update the URL, with a placeholder string that the user replaces before saving the bookmark. The rendering approach is purely browser-based navigation, with no external libraries or data sources involved.
