Forked from barGraph

This visualization displays the total population of countries using bar and scatter plot overlays, with data from a local CSV file. Users can sort the bars and circles in ascending or descending order via buttons. Built with D3 v5, it uses `scaleBand`, `scaleLinear`, `axisBottom`, and `axisLeft` to render the SVG, while transitions animate the reordering and tooltips on mouseover reveal country and population details.

barGraph

This visualization displays the 2022 population of countries as a bar chart, with options to sort the bars in ascending or descending order. The chart also includes a scatter plot overlay with circles at the top of each bar, and a tooltip showing country and population details on hover. Built with D3 v5, the visualization uses `scaleBand`, `scaleLinear`, and `axisLeft`/`axisBottom` for axes, with `transition` animations when sorting. The data comes from a CSV file, and the SVG rendering includes interactive buttons for reordering.

Countries Population Visualization

This visualization shows the population of various cities using a horizontal bar chart, with each bar’s length proportional to the city’s population. The data is loaded from a CSV file and rendered as SVG rectangles using D3 v5’s `scaleLinear`, `scaleBand`, and `csv` methods. The chart displays the city names on the y-axis and population values on the x-axis, with bars styled without axis labels or gridlines.

barGraph

This bar chart visualizes the 2022 population of countries from a CSV dataset. Users can click the "Ascending" or "Descending" buttons to reorder the bars, which transition smoothly over 500 milliseconds. The visualization uses the D3.js library (v5) with scaleBand for the x-axis, scaleLinear for the y-axis, and axisBottom/axisLeft for tick marks. It also overlays a small blue dot (a circle) on each bar representing the same population value, and a tooltip appears on mouseover.

bar graph

A horizontal bar graph displays population counts for four countries using D3 v6. The visualization renders as SVG, with steelblue bars representing each nation's population, sorted alphabetically by country name. The chart reads population data from a CSV file, multiplies the values by 1000, and uses D3's `scaleLinear` for the x-axis and `scaleBand` for the categorical y-axis. Axes are generated with `axisLeft` and `axisBottom`, while the bar rectangles are appended dynamically to the SVG group.

Bar Chart

This bar chart displays population figures for 13 countries, with countries listed along the y-axis and population values on the x-axis. The visualization uses d3.scaleBand to position each country’s bar and d3.scaleLinear to map population counts to bar widths. The code employs d3.svg.axis for the left and bottom axes, and renders everything as SVG elements within a 960×500 viewport. Data is loaded from a CSV file using d3.csv, with population values converted to numbers before rendering.

barGraph

This bar graph displays the 2022 population of countries from a CSV dataset, sorted in descending order. It uses D3 version 5 to render an SVG visualization, mapping country names to the x-axis and population values to the y-axis. The chart employs `d3.scaleBand` and `d3.scaleLinear` for scales, `d3.axisLeft` and `d3.axisBottom` for axes, and a mouseover tooltip that displays the country name and population. The code loads data via `d3.csv`.

Making a Bar Chart

This bar chart displays population figures for 18 countries, with each bar’s length representing population in thousands and countries ordered along the vertical axis. The visualization uses D3 v5’s `scaleLinear` and `scaleBand` to map data to pixel coordinates, while `axisLeft` and `axisBottom` generate the labeled axes. Population data is loaded from a CSV file via `d3.csv`, and rectangles are appended to an SVG canvas, styled with a purple fill. The chart’s margins and inner dimensions are computed dynamically from the SVG’s width and height attributes.

Scatter plot

This bar chart visualizes the populations of ten countries, with horizontal bars extending from a shared origin to represent each country's population value. The chart uses D3.js v5 to load CSV data, scale the population values by 1000, and render the visualization as SVG rectangles. The code utilizes `scaleLinear` for the x-axis, `scaleBand` for the y-axis categories, and the `axisBottom` and `axisLeft` functions to generate the axes.
