This example reproduces a Sol LeWitt wall drawing as an interactive SVG composition that adapts to the browser window. It uses two nested masks—a circular cutout within a rectangular frame—to create a cross-shaped viewport that reveals overlapping horizontal and vertical striped patterns beneath. The rendering is driven by procedural JavaScript that generates 100 striped rectangles for each orientation, positioned on a 20-pixel grid. The code relies on raw SVG element creation via `document.createElementNS` and direct attribute setting, without any external visualization library.

Fork of Curran lesson - Sol LeWitt Reproduction

This interactive SVG reproduction of a Sol LeWitt drawing uses a generative approach to create two overlapping circular patterns. It renders a grid of thin horizontal and vertical rectangles, with a circular mask cutting out the center of the horizontal set and an inverse mask revealing the center of the vertical set. The code builds the SVG entirely through the DOM API, setting up two masks—one with a black rectangle and white circle, the other with the inverse—and then appending 100 rects for each orientation. The result is a dynamic, browser-resizing geometric composition that mirrors LeWitt’s conceptual art style.

Fork of Sol LeWitt Reproduction

This example reproduces a Sol LeWitt wall drawing as an interactive SVG canvas. It displays a central white circular mask over a field of 100 horizontal black stripes, with the circle acting as a window that reveals the full-width bars. The piece uses the SVG DOM API directly, creating a mask and rectangles via JavaScript, without any external styling. Each stripe is 10 pixels tall, and the composition fills the entire browser viewport, adapting to the window’s dimensions.

Fork of Sol LeWitt Reproduction

This example reproduces a Sol LeWitt artwork using procedural SVG rendering. It displays a grid of horizontal and vertical stripes that intersect within two circular masks, creating a geometric pattern where lines are visible only inside the circles. The code generates 100 rectangles in each direction, using SVG `mask` elements with `circle` shapes to constrain the drawn areas. A full-screen SVG canvas is built dynamically with `createElementNS`, and the composition is generated entirely through JavaScript without external libraries.

Fork of Sol LeWitt Reproduction

This example reproduces a Sol LeWitt wall drawing using only SVG and JavaScript, creating a grid of alternating horizontal and vertical bands. Two circular masks reveal the layered strokes: the first mask exposes vertical strips within a centered circle, while the second inverts that region to show horizontal strips outside it. The code generates 100 rectangles per direction, each 10 pixels thick, using the `document.createElementNS` API and SVG `mask` elements to compose the visual interplay. The result is a clean, geometric abstraction that mimics the artist’s instructional art style.

Fork of Sol LeWitt Reproduction

This visualization reproduces a Sol LeWitt art piece using raw SVG. A circular mask reveals a set of horizontal, evenly spaced rectangles that span the full width of the viewport, creating a striped pattern confined to a central circle. The code constructs the SVG dynamically via the `document.createElementNS` API, setting the mask’s circle radius to 200 pixels and drawing 100 rectangles at 20-pixel intervals with 10-pixel heights. No external libraries are used; the rendering relies entirely on native browser SVG elements and attributes.

Fork of Sol LeWitt Reproduction

This example reproduces a Sol LeWitt-style drawing using raw SVG elements and mask manipulation. The visualization renders a series of overlapping horizontal and vertical stripes by creating rectangles and applying circular SVG masks to confine their visibility, producing a geometric composition. The code uses DOM manipulation via `createElementNS` and `setAttribute` to construct the SVG, with two distinct masks (`circle-mask` and `circle-mask-2`) controlling different stripe patterns. The result is a monochromatic, grid-based artwork where varying rectangle heights and widths generate a rhythmic, minimalist pattern across the full viewport.

Fork of Sol LeWitt Reproduction

This example reproduces a Sol LeWitt wall drawing using generative linework confined to circular masks. Horizontal and vertical striped rectangles are layered across the full canvas, with an SVG mask revealing only the central circular area for each orientation. The piece uses pure JavaScript and the SVG API, creating two masks and drawing one hundred striped rectangles of alternating orientation. The result is a minimalist, geometric composition that directly emulates LeWitt’s instructional art style.

Fork of Sol LeWitt Reproduction

This generative art piece reproduces a Sol LeWitt wall drawing using pure JavaScript and the SVG API. It displays a grid of alternating horizontal and vertical stripes that intersect within central circular masks, creating a layered geometric pattern. The code constructs an SVG canvas with two circle masks—one revealing horizontal bars, the other vertical bars—overlaid to produce the final composition. No external libraries are used; all elements are created dynamically via `document.createElementNS` and styled with inline attributes.
