This example recreates a Sol LeWitt-inspired wall drawing as a dense field of uniform vertical bars rendered in black on a full-window SVG canvas. It shows how simple repetition of a geometric primitive can produce a rhythmic, minimalist composition. The code uses the raw Document Object Model API, creating 100 `rect` elements via `document.createElementNS` and appending them to an SVG root. Each rectangle is positioned at twenty-pixel intervals, with a fixed width of ten pixels and a height matching the browser viewport, filling the entire display area.

Fork of Sol LeWitt 2

This example reproduces a Sol LeWitt wall drawing as an abstract, geometric visualization. It shows a series of 100 thin, horizontal rectangles stacked vertically across the full height of the browser window, forming a simple striped pattern. The piece is rendered using the SVG API, creating each `rect` element dynamically via `document.createElementNS`. The code sets the width of each rectangle to match the viewport width, while the vertical position and height are determined by a loop increment, producing a clean, repetitive composition in the style of the original artwork.

Fork of SVG Fundamentals - Sol LeWitt repro follow-along

This example reproduces a Sol LeWitt art piece using dynamically generated SVG rectangles. The code creates 100 vertical black bars, each 10 pixels wide, evenly spaced across the full window height, filling the browser viewport. It uses the Document API (`createElementNS`) to build SVG elements from scratch within JavaScript rather than a dedicated visualization library. The rendering approach directly mirrors LeWitt’s geometric, minimalist style by iterating through a fixed count of shapes.

Fork of Sol Lewit reproduction vertical lines

This example reproduces a Sol LeWitt-inspired drawing as a series of vertical black lines. It uses the raw SVG API to create and append 100 `rect` elements, each with a fixed width of 10 pixels and a spacing of 20 pixels, spanning the full height of the viewport. The code computes the canvas dimensions from `innerWidth` and `innerHeight`, then positions the rectangles horizontally across the entire screen. This straightforward, procedural rendering approach directly mirrors the minimalist aesthetic of the original conceptual artwork.

Fork of Sol LeWitt practice

This example uses JavaScript and the SVG API to create a full-window, grid-like pattern of vertical bars. It calculates the number of bars needed based on the window’s width and a fixed bar length with padding, then dynamically generates and positions each SVG rectangle. The code uses `document.createElementNS` and `setAttribute` to construct the vector graphics, and `console.log` examples in the README illustrate basic variable reassignment with `let` and `var`. The result is a minimalist, striped composition that directly references Sol LeWitt’s geometric wall drawings.

Fork of Sol LeWitt Reproduction Vertical

This example reproduces Sol LeWitt’s minimalist wall drawing as an interactive SVG composition. It generates a grid of alternating horizontal and vertical rectangles, with a circular mask revealing only the central region of the layered shapes. The code uses the DOM API’s `createElementNS` to construct SVG elements directly, setting attributes like `width`, `height`, and `mask` programmatically. No external libraries are required, and the rendering adapts to the full browser viewport, creating a stark black-and-white geometric pattern inspired by the artist’s systematic approach.

Fork of Sol LeWitt reproduction

This example reproduces the wall drawing style of Sol LeWitt using only SVG shapes and the native DOM API. It renders one hundred horizontal rectangles, each 10 pixels tall, evenly spaced down the screen, all clipped by a circular mask centered in the viewport. The page creates an SVG element dynamically, appends a mask with a white background and a black circle, then generates the rectangles in a loop without any external libraries. The result is a minimalist geometric pattern that highlights how simple SVG primitives can achieve a refined, artistic composition.

Fork of Sol LeWitt Reproduction Vertical

This example reproduces a Sol LeWitt-inspired geometric composition using raw SVG. It shows a series of 100 horizontal bars, each 10 pixels tall and spaced 20 pixels apart, filling the entire window. A circular mask clips the bars so that only the area inside a centered circle of radius 200 pixels is visible, creating the artwork’s distinctive striped disc. The code creates SVG elements programmatically via the DOM API, using `createElementNS` and `setAttribute` to build the mask and rectangles without any external libraries.

Fork of Sol LeWitt Reproduction

This example reproduces a Sol LeWitt wall drawing by generating a grid-like pattern of horizontal and vertical bars on an HTML5 SVG canvas. It uses SVG masks to create a central circular window: one mask hides everything except a 200-pixel-radius circle, while a second mask inverts that region. The code dynamically creates 100 horizontal and 100 vertical rectangles, each layered with alternating masks to produce the distinctive visual effect. The piece adapts to the browser’s full window dimensions, demonstrating algorithmic art generation through direct DOM manipulation and SVG APIs without external libraries.
