This visualization displays metadata about a CSS named colors dataset, including row count, column count, and file size, rendered as large text that follows the mouse cursor across the screen. The React component fetches the CSV data using d3.csv, then formats the statistics with d3.csvFormat in the Message function. The example combines React’s useState and useEffect hooks for data loading with D3 v7 for CSV parsing, while the oversized pre tag creates the interactive mouse-following effect in an SVG-less plain HTML layout.

This example displays statistics about a dataset of named CSS colors, showing total file size in kilobytes, row count, and column count. The visualization is implemented with React and D3, using the `csv` function from D3 to load the data from a remote GitHub gist. The React component manages state with hooks, and displays the computed statistics as text after asynchronously fetching and parsing the data.

Mouse Follower

This example loads CSS named colors from a CSV file using D3’s `csv` utility, then displays a plain-text summary of the dataset’s size, row count, and column count. The summary is rendered as an SVG-based `<pre>` element, with React state managing the asynchronous data loading via `useState` and `useEffect`. The code imports `message.js` to format the statistics, and the entire interface updates once the CSV data arrives.

Mouse Follower

This example displays a large-format text report of CSS named colors data loaded from a CSV file. The page uses React state to store the parsed data, which is initially set to "Loading..." and then updated once D3’s `csv` utility fetches and parses the remote dataset. A custom message function formats the information, computing file size in kilobytes from `d3.csvFormat`, row count, and column count. The application is built with React hooks (`useState`, `useEffect`) and rendered via `ReactDOM.render`.

Mouse Follower and Data with React & D3

This visualization demonstrates how to integrate D3.js within a React application. A large circle follows the mouse cursor across the screen, while a `pre` element displays summary statistics about a dataset loaded from a CSV file containing CSS named colors. The code uses React's `useState` and `useEffect` hooks to manage state and fetch the data via `d3.csv`. The `message.js` module calculates the file size in kilobytes, row count, and column count using `d3.csvFormat` and displays these metrics alongside the interactive mouse follower.

This example loads a CSV file of CSS named colors and displays a message with its size in kilobytes, row count, and column count. The application uses React hooks (useState, useCallback) to manage state and fetches data with d3.csv from a GitHub gist URL. The rendered output is a static text message displayed in a div, with D3 v7 and React 16 loaded via CDN.

A React component loads a CSV file of CSS named colors via the `d3.csv` method and displays a summary message about the dataset. The message shows the formatted data size in kilobytes, the number of rows, and the number of columns using `d3.csvFormat` and the data’s `columns` property. While loading, the text shows "loading...". The example demonstrates a simple data-loading and text-rendering workflow with React, the `useEffect` and `useState` hooks, and D3’s CSV parsing and formatting utilities.

Mouse Follower with data

This example demonstrates loading a CSV dataset with D3 and displaying the loading status through a React component. It shows how D3’s `csv` function fetches data from a remote URL containing CSS color names, while React’s `useState` and `useEffect` hooks manage the asynchronous state. The visualization renders a text message as an SVG element, displaying the number of rows and columns once loaded, updating from "loading..." as data arrives. The project combines React 16.9, D3 v7, and uses a plain HTML pre tag for text output rather than a chart.

Fork of Mouse Follower

This example loads a named CSS color dataset from a remote CSV file and displays a summary of its size, row count, and column count. The React component uses the `useState` hook to store the data after fetching it asynchronously with d3.csv. The message is computed by formatting the CSV data back into a string with `d3.csvFormat`, measuring its length, and counting rows and columns. The interface shows only the text summary, with no graphic or interactive element beyond the loading state.
