This interactive SVG reproduction of a Sol LeWitt wall drawing generates intersecting horizontal and vertical striped bands across the entire browser window. Using the Document API to create and append SVG elements, the code defines two masks—one with white circles on black, another with black circles on white—to selectively reveal the grid strokes. The rendering approach applies these masks to alternating 10-pixel-wide rectangles, producing overlapping circular patterns where the two color schemes intersect. The composition adapts dynamically to the viewport dimensions, with circles positioned at quarter and two-thirds width.

Sol LeWitt Reproduction Inverse

This interactive SVG reproduction of a Sol LeWitt wall drawing layers horizontal and vertical striped rectangles, creating a grid-like pattern that is revealed through two circular masks. The first mask uses a black background with a white circle to show only the horizontal bands inside the circle, while the second inverts this with a white background and black circle to display the vertical bands outside it. The code builds the entire composition dynamically via the DOM API, creating 100 striped rectangles per direction and applying the masks with `url(#circle-mask)` and `url(#circle-mask-2)`. The piece renders full-window, adapting to the viewport dimensions.

Sol Lewitt Variante

This example recreates a Sol LeWitt-inspired wall drawing as an interactive SVG visualization. The artwork shows a grid of thin horizontal and vertical lines that are visible only within two overlapping circular masks, creating a crosshatched pattern inside the circles against a blank background. The code uses plain JavaScript with the SVG DOM API, creating mask elements and hundreds of rect primitives programmatically. A black-filled mask with a white circle reveals the horizontal lines, while an inverted mask with a black circle reveals the vertical lines, demonstrating a simple yet effective clipping technique.

Sol LeWitt

This example reproduces a Sol LeWitt drawing using SVG. It renders a grid of horizontal and vertical stripes, with a circular mask creating the illusion of layered bands across the canvas. The stripes are generated programmatically in JavaScript, using `document.createElementNS` to build SVG `rect` elements. Two complementary masks (`circle-mask` and `circle-mask-2`) alternate which stripe orientation is visible, producing a clean geometric composition that adapts to the full browser window size.

Sol LeWitt Reproduction Final

This example reproduces a Sol LeWitt wall drawing using pure JavaScript and SVG APIs. It shows a grid of horizontal and vertical striped rectangles overlaid with two circular masks, creating a composition of intersecting lines that fade into a central circle. The code builds SVG elements dynamically via `document.createElementNS`, applying a black-to-white mask and an inverted white-to-black mask to reveal alternating line directions. One hundred horizontal strips and one hundred vertical strips are generated in loops, with the masks controlling visibility to form the final geometric pattern.

Sol LeWitt

This visualization recreates Sol LeWitt’s geometric wall drawings using overlapping horizontal and vertical striped bands. A central circular mask reveals the intersection of both patterns, while the surrounding areas remain blank. The code builds SVG elements manually with `createElementNS`, applying two separate circle-based masks to clip groups of thin rectangles. No external libraries are used; rendering relies entirely on raw SVG masks and rect primitives at a fixed 100-line count per direction.

Sol Lewitt Reproduction

This example reproduces a Sol LeWitt-style drawing using SVG and JavaScript. It displays a grid of vertical and horizontal stripes that are visible only within a central circle, creating an intersection pattern. The code uses the Document Object Model (DOM) to create SVG elements, including masks, rectangles, and circles. Two circular masks with contrasting fills control where each set of stripes is revealed, demonstrating a generative art technique with a clean, geometric output.

Sol LeWitt Reproduction

This visualization uses raw SVG and JavaScript to reproduce a Sol LeWitt wall drawing. It layers 100 horizontal and 100 vertical rectangular stripes across the full browser window. A circular mask, created via SVG `mask` and `circle` elements, is applied only to the horizontal lines, revealing them solely within a central 200-pixel radius. The code dynamically sizes the artwork to the viewport dimensions, using `document.createElementNS` and `setAttribute` to build the composition without any external libraries.

Sol LeWitt reproduction

This piece reproduces a Sol LeWitt wall drawing using JavaScript to generate SVG elements dynamically. It displays a composition of horizontal and vertical striped rectangles that form a distinct circular pattern at the center of the viewport. The rendering uses two SVG masks, `inner-circle-mask` and `outer-circle-mask`, to control the visibility of the 100 horizontal and 100 vertical `<rect>` elements, which are sized relative to the window’s dimensions. The code relies on basic SVG APIs such as `createElementNS`, `setAttribute`, and `appendChild` to construct the artwork.
