Bowl of Fruit

Bowl of Fruit - Nested Elements_Singular Elements

A bowl of fruit demonstrates nested SVG elements with singular data joins. Five apples render as red circles inside a rounded rectangle bowl, each group containing a circle and a text label. Over time, the dataset shrinks, one apple changes into a yellow lemon, and another apple is removed. Using `d3.scaleOrdinal` for color and radius, the code performs enter, update, and exit selections via `selection.enter()`, `merge()`, and `exit().remove()` to transition the fruit groups dynamically. The example shows how to manage hierarchical SVG structures with D3 v5.

Bowl of fruit - Nested Elements

A bowl of fruit demonstrates nested SVG elements with a dynamic data join, showing apples and lemons arranged in a row. The visualization uses a D3 ordinal scale to map fruit types to colors and radii, while enter, update, and exit selections manage the transitions as fruits are eaten or replaced over time. Circles and text labels are appended within each group element, and the bowl is drawn as a rounded rectangle behind the fruit.

Bowl of Fruit — Singular Elements

A bowl of fruit demonstrates how D3 join patterns manage dynamic updates. Five red apples appear in a bowl, then an apple is removed, a third apple turns into a lemon, and a second apple disappears. The code uses d3.scaleOrdinal for color and radius, d3.selectAll and data joins for enter, update, and exit selections, and d3.range to generate initial data.

Bowl of fruit -Singular Elements

A set of fruit shapes—red circles for apples and yellow circles for lemons—moves through a bowl-shaped SVG container, demonstrating D3’s data-join with singular elements. The code uses `scaleOrdinal` to map fruit types to colors and radii, while `selection.selectAll("g").data()` handles enter, update, and exit transitions as apples are removed or replaced over timed intervals. Rendered as SVG, the example shows how explicit key functions and group elements manage dynamic state changes.

A bowl of fruit shows five apples in a wide rounded rectangle, with one apple changing to a lemon and fruits being removed over time. The visualization uses D3 v5 with SVG rendering, binding fruit data to groups containing circles and text labels. d3.scaleOrdinal maps fruit types to colors and radii, while enter, update, and exit selections manage dynamic changes triggered by setTimeout intervals.

Bowl of fruit

Five fruit shapes sit in a row as SVG circles and labels, using d3.scaleOrdinal to map apple and lemon types to distinct radii and colors. Clicking a fruit highlights it with a black stroke. Over time, d3 transitions remove fruits, change an apple into a lemon, and filter out another, demonstrating data joins with enter, update, and exit selections.

Bowl of Fruit[part-II]

This example demonstrates a data-join update cycle for a bowl of fruit rendered as SVG circles. Five apples appear initially, then one is removed, a second becomes a lemon, and a third is deleted, all through timed state changes. The fruitBowl function uses d3.scaleOrdinal for color and radius, while selection.enter(), merge(), and exit() handle dynamic updates. The code explicitly uses d3.select, d3.range, and SVG rect, circle, and text elements within a static bowl shape.

Bowl of Fruit - General update pattern

A bowl of fruit demonstrates the D3 general update pattern, showing how SVG groups representing apples and lemons enter, update, and exit as the data changes over time. An apple is removed, another is replaced with a lemon, and a third is filtered out through timed intervals. The code uses d3.scaleOrdinal for color and radius mappings, d3.select and data joins with .enter(), .merge(), and .exit() to manage elements. SVG circles and text labels render within groups, positioned with transform attributes based on array index and a fixed bowl rectangle.
