Intercative Bar Chart

MarvelVsDC Bar Chart

This bar chart compares Marvel and DC movies by their IMDB ratings, displaying each film title along the vertical axis and its rating as a horizontal bar. The visualization uses D3 v5 within a React framework, employing `scaleLinear` for the x-axis and `scaleBand` for the categorical y-axis. Axes are generated with `axisLeft` and `axisBottom`, while the chart is rendered as SVG elements. The data is loaded from a CSV file via `d3.csv`, with rating values parsed to numbers before rendering.

Marvel

A horizontal bar chart ranks superhero movies by audience rating, with each bar labeled by film title. The visualization compares Marvel and DC films, showing higher-rated titles like *The Dark Knight* and *Avengers: Endgame* extending further right. Built with D3 v7, it loads CSV data, maps ratings to a linear scale, and uses a band scale for movie titles. SVG rectangles render the bars, while D3’s axis functions add labeled scales for rating and title.

Rendering Marks and Channels with React & D3

This example shows the IMDB ratings of the top 15 movies by number of votes as a horizontal bar chart. The visualization uses React to manage state and render SVG elements, while D3.js provides the scale functions (`scaleBand`, `scaleLinear`) and data loading via `d3.csv`. The bars encode the vote count through their width, with axis ticks and labels generated manually. Movie titles appear on the y-axis, and the data comes from a GitHub-hosted CSV file fetched asynchronously.

Making a Bar Chart

A bar chart displays movie titles against their IMDB scores and budgets, with bars colored on a red gradient via a scaleLinear. The data is loaded from a CSV using d3.csv, and the chart is built with d3.scaleBand for the y-axis and d3.scaleLinear for both the x-axis and color encoding. On hover, the chart populates a foreignObject div with title, score, and budget. A clickable circle toggles an animated transition via the custom `transitionWidth` function, which uses the d3 transition API to shrink or grow bar widths over one second.

Pie Chart

This pie chart visualizes IMDB ratings for Marvel and DC movies, comparing titles like The Avengers, Infinity War, and The Dark Knight. The chart uses d3.pie to compute arc angles from the data values and d3.arc to generate SVG path segments, with d3.scaleOrdinal assigning categorical colors. Each slice responds to mouseover and click events, displaying a tooltip with the movie name and rating via d3.event positioning. Data loads from a comma-separated CSV file pulled from a GitHub gist, with the visualization rendering entirely as SVG within a fixed-size viewport.

ICE-6 Bar Graph

This bar graph displays the top ten IMDB-rated movies, plotting each movie’s rating along a horizontal scale. The visualization uses React for component management and D3 v5 for data loading and scales, rendering as an SVG. Movie titles appear on the y-axis using a band scale, while ratings map to bar widths via a linear scale, with red gridlines and tick labels generated from the x-scale. Data is fetched as CSV from a GitHub gist, and the graph updates after loading.

IMDb Movie ratings

This interactive stacked bar chart visualizes IMDb movie rating distributions across six genres, with each bar segment representing the proportion of movies within specific rating brackets. The chart uses D3.js (v7) with an SVG rendering approach, employing `d3.csv` to load data and `d3.stack` to create the stacked segments. A legend maps five rating categories to a color scale, while mouseover events trigger tooltips showing exact percentages for each genre-rating combination. The code also demonstrates custom axis styling and font integration.

MCU plott

This animated scatter plot visualizes the Marvel Cinematic Universe dataset, mapping IMDB ratings, Phase, and Metascore across different axes. The visualization cycles through these three variables every two seconds, updating the x-axis and circle positions accordingly. Built with D3.js v6, it uses `scaleLinear`, `axisLeft`, `axisBottom`, and `selection.join()` to render and update SVG circles. The data is loaded from a GitHub Gist CSV file, with parsing handled via `d3.csv` and numeric conversion in a custom row function.
