This bar chart visualizes global sales figures for Wii and Wii U video games, sourced from a TidyTuesday dataset derived from TheGlobalEconomy.com. The chart sorts games by descending sales, with a steelblue bar for each title and labeled axes for game name and sales in millions. The visualization uses D3 v7 with `scaleBand` and `scaleLinear` to map data to SVG rectangles, rotates the x-axis labels for readability, and includes a title. The y-axis is fixed to a 0–90 million range.

AI-generated description

A demonstration of how to start using D3 version 6.

The original data is shown in https://www.theglobaleconomy.com/rankings/Preprimary_school_enrollment/ Someone consolidated the dataset. So I download the dataset from github https://github.com/rfordatascience/tidytuesday/tree/master/data/2019/2019-05-07

Bar chart

A bar chart displays the global sales figures for nine video games from 2015, with each bar representing a title and its height corresponding to sales in millions. The chart uses the p5.js library to load data from a CSV file hosted on GitHub, render the bars, and label the axes. It includes game names beneath each bar and a y-axis scale showing sales values. The data comes from the HW2.csv file, which lists game titles and their Global_Sales figures.

Bar Chart of Top Video Game Sales

This bar chart displays the top 20 video games by global sales in millions, ranking them from highest to lowest. It uses d3.scaleLinear for the x-axis (sales) and d3.scaleBand for the y-axis (game names), with axes rendered via d3.axisLeft and d3.axisBottom. Data is loaded from a CSV file using d3.csv, and the chart is drawn as SVG rectangles. The code formats sales ticks with d3.format and labels the chart with a title and x-axis caption.

Fork of dataset for video games

This bar chart visualizes global sales figures for six major video game franchises, ordered by total units sold, with Mario leading at 330 million and The Legend of Zelda at 120 million. The chart uses D3 v7’s `scaleBand` and `scaleLinear` to map franchise names and sales values, rendering the bars as SVG rectangles via `d3.selectAll().append('rect')`. The x-axis labels are rotated 45 degrees for readability, and the chart includes a title, axis labels, and a light teal fill for the bars. Data comes from a CSV file listing franchise sales.

Video game Sales Global Bar Chart

This bar chart visualizes the top 10 best-selling video games globally, ranked by total sales in millions of dollars. It uses d3.csv to load the vgsales.csv dataset, then computes the top 10 entries using d3.maxIndex on the Global_Sales field. The chart renders with SVG rectangles positioned via d3.scaleBand and d3.scaleLinear, and includes axes using d3.axisBottom and d3.axisLeft with custom tick formatting. Tooltips are added via SVG title elements, and the y-axis labels are formatted using d3.format.

Video Games Sales by Platform

This visualization shows total global video game sales for each platform using a bar chart, with platforms sorted in descending order of sales. It loads a CSV dataset containing video game sales figures and aggregates the data by platform using `d3.rollup`. The chart renders with SVG, using `d3.scaleBand` for the x-axis and `d3.scaleLinear` for the y-axis, while `d3.axisBottom` and `d3.axisLeft` generate the axes. Bars are drawn as SVG `rect` elements with a steelblue fill, and the x-axis labels are rotated 45 degrees for readability.

The Sales Number VS The Different platform

This dashboard visualizes video game sales across four coordinated charts: a bar chart of publisher sales, a scatter plot of regional sales, a stacked bar chart of genre sales by continent, and a rose chart of platform counts. The D3 v7 code uses `d3.scaleBand`, `d3.scaleLinear`, `d3.pie`, and `d3.arc` to render these SVG views, with animated transitions and interactive tooltips. Users can filter the bar chart by genre and year range using dropdown menus. All charts share a CSV dataset of video game sales loaded via `d3.csv`.

dataset for video games

This bar chart displays video game franchise sales figures from a dataset included in the project files, with Mario leading at 330 million units and The Legend of Zelda at 120 million. The visualization uses D3.js version 7.8.5, employing `scaleBand` for the categorical x-axis and `scaleLinear` for the y-axis, while rendering rectangles as marks. Axes are drawn with `axisLeft` and custom axis-label components from the `@curran/axis-labels` package. The chart includes an inner rectangle background and uses data-driven positioning and sizing for each bar.

Sequential Color Scale bar chart

This bar chart visualizes the global sales figures for nine video games from 2015, ranging from Call of Duty at 14 million units down to Metal Gear at 3.38 million. It uses a sequential blue color scale to represent the magnitude of sales, with darker shades indicating higher values. The chart is built with D3 v6, using `d3.scaleBand` for the categorical x-axis and `d3.scaleLinear` for the y-axis and color mapping, rendered as SVG rectangles. Data is loaded from the `HW2.csv` file, and a color legend is generated with the `d3.legendColor` API.
