Forked from Code Tree Viz from Livestream

This visualization displays the file structure of a Vue project as a collection of colored circles, each sized according to file size and colored by file extension. The circles are positioned using d3.forceSimulation with forceCollide to prevent overlap, with file names rendered as text labels. Data loads from a remote JSON URL, and the visualization uses D3’s hierarchy to parse the nested structure before rendering circles and text in an SVG.

Fork of Code Tree Viz from Livestream

This visualization presents a file structure as a circular packing diagram, with each file and directory represented by a circle sized according to its file size. It uses D3’s `hierarchy` and `pack` layout to compute positions, while a `scaleLinear` maps circle radii to font sizes for labels. File types are color-coded via a custom JavaScript object, with `fillColors` mapping extensions to specific colors, applied to circles filtered by file status. The data originates from a Vue Core repository gist, loaded via `fetch`, and renders in Svelte with SVG, using hover effects to increase circle opacity.

Code Tree Viz from Livestream

This visualization uses a circle packing layout to display the file structure of the Vue Core source code, where each file is represented as a circle sized by its byte size and colored by its file extension. The visualization uses D3's `hierarchy`, `pack`, and `scaleLinear` APIs to compute the layout and map file sizes to circle radii and opacity. The data is fetched from a GitHub Gist containing a JSON snapshot of the repository, and each circle's color is determined by a hard-coded map of file extensions to colors. Hovering over a circle highlights it interactively.

Fork of Circles with D3

This example generates a field of colorful circles using D3.js within a Svelte component. The visualization draws and animates the circles using the d3.forceSimulation API to distribute them dynamically across the canvas. The code demonstrates how to integrate D3’s data-binding and simulation capabilities directly into a Svelte application. The circles’ positions and movements are driven by the force simulation, creating an organic, floating arrangement. The project serves as a base template for creative modifications, such as holiday-themed variations, and relies on the D3 library version 7.8.5.

Vue Circle Pack with Gradients

This example shows a zoomable circle packing visualization of the Vue.js core repository, where each circle represents a file or directory, sized by file size and colored by file extension. Hierarchical data is parsed with `d3.hierarchy` and `d3.pack`, while custom gradient definitions via SVG `radialGradient` elements enhance circle depth. Interactive pan and zoom is enabled through `d3.zoom`, with file sizes mapped to opacity using `d3.scaleLinear` and labels positioned with a monospace font.

Circular Force-Layout

This circular force-layout visualization maps a network of interlinked nodes, with node size and color encoding attributes like total current and type, respectively. Rendered with D3 v4's force simulation, the SVG animation reveals clustering and directional relationships through directed links. Data is loaded from CSV and JSON sources, and the circular layout emerges from a custom gravity force that pulls nodes toward predefined cluster centers.

Gist 0bb5514393bdd878235e51ed2fdd3724

This example visualizes the relationships between file names and their associated directory paths using a force-directed graph layout. The code employs `d3.forceSimulation` to position nodes and `d3.forceLink` to draw connecting edges, with each node rendered as a colored circle. The graph is built from a parsed file tree structure, likely derived from object keys or an array of paths, and uses `d3.select` for DOM manipulation. Labels are attached to nodes via SVG text elements, while the simulation updates positions on each tick. The rendering relies on an SVG container, with node colors distinguishing file types from directory paths.

Clustered Force Layout 4.0

This example shows a force-directed layout with 200 circles organized into 10 distinct clusters, each rendered in a different color from the `d3.schemeCategory20` palette. The circles are separated into their groups by the `clustering` custom force, while the `collide` function, which uses a quadtree, prevents overlap both within and between clusters. The visualization is built with D3 v4, uses the `d3.forceSimulation` API for physics, and renders via SVG. The `ticked` callback updates each circle’s `cx` and `cy` attributes as the simulation runs.

Fork of packedlayout

Three groups of colored circles separate into loose clusters as a D3 force simulation runs. The visualization uses `d3.forceSimulation` with `forceX` pulling nodes toward three distinct horizontal centers, `forceManyBody` for repulsion, and `forceCollide` to prevent overlap. Each of the 100 randomly sized nodes is assigned one of three categories and rendered as an SVG circle whose fill color matches that category. The simulation updates positions on every tick, redrawing the circles via a data join in `index.js`.
