Fork of Bowl of Fruit-Click to Select

A bowl of fruit demonstrates interactive selection with animated transitions as apples and lemons appear, change, and disappear over time. Users click any fruit to highlight it with a black stroke. The visualization uses SVG circles with a D3 v5 data join, updating enter, update, and exit states via transitions on circle radius and position, with `scaleOrdinal` mapping fruit types to colors and sizes.

Fork of Fork of Bowl of fruit - with click events

A bowl of five apples animates through a sequence of changes: one fruit disappears, another transforms into a lemon, and a third is removed. Clicking any fruit selects it, highlighting its outline in black. The example demonstrates reusable data joins with `d3.selectAll`, `enter`/`merge`/`exit` selections, and ordinal scales for mapping fruit type to color and radius. Smooth transitions are applied via `transition().duration()`, animating circle position and radius over one second.

Fork of Bowl of Fruit - Animated Transitions

A fork of the Bowl of Fruit example demonstrates animated transitions for five SVG circles representing apples and lemons, with click-to-select highlighting. The visualization uses a D3 v5 `scaleOrdinal` for color and radius, and `transition().duration(1000)` to animate circle position, radius, and exit/enter states. The `fruitBowl` function binds data with a key function, merging enter and update selections, while `index.js` mutates the fruit array via `setTimeout` to show data-driven changes.

Fork of Bowl of Fruit - D3 Update (With Labels)

This example demonstrates a dynamic fruit bowl visualization where apples are eaten and replaced with lemons over time, with labels showing each fruit’s type. Using D3 v7’s data joins and `transition()`, circles and text elements update smoothly, while `scaleOrdinal` maps fruit types to colors and sizes. The SVG rendering animates changes triggered by `setTimeout`, showing enter, update, and exit selections as the dataset mutates.

Fork of Bowl of Fruit - Animated Transitions

This example demonstrates animated transitions for a fruit bowl, where apples and lemons appear, disappear, and change type with smooth updates. Five circles initially render as apples; clicking highlights a fruit with a black stroke, while timed updates remove the last apple, convert the third apple to a lemon, and filter out the second fruit. The visualization uses D3 v5 with the `fruitBowl` module, leveraging `selection.data()` with key functions, `transition().duration()` for enter, update, and exit animations, and ordinal scales for color and radius. SVG shapes are bound to data, with mouseover and mouseout events triggering selection changes.

This example demonstrates animated transitions of fruit shapes in an SVG bowl using D3 v5. Circles representing apples and lemons enter, update, and exit with sequential timing, showing how data joins and key functions track object identity. The code uses `d3.scaleOrdinal` for color and radius mappings, `d3.selectAll` and `selection.merge` for enter-update handling, and `transition.duration` to animate circle positions and radii over one second. Fruits are stored as an array with random IDs, and `setTimeout` triggers state changes like removing or replacing items.

Fork of Fork of Bowl of fruit - Click to Select D3.js!

Five circles render as apples and lemons in an SVG bowl, with clicks selecting a fruit by highlighting its black stroke. D3.js v5’s `scaleOrdinal` maps fruit types to colors and radii, while `transition().duration(1000)` animates circle entry, exit, and resizing. The `fruitBowl` module uses data joins, `on('click')` handlers, and timed `setTimeout` calls to dynamically add, remove, or mutate fruit data, triggering re-renders.

Fork of Bowl of Fruit - Animated Transitions

Using D3.js v5 and modular ES imports, this animated example visualizes a bowl of fruit where apples and lemons appear, disappear, and change type over time. Circles represent fruit, with ordinal scales mapping color and radius to fruit type, while each fruit’s identity is tracked via a random `id`. Transitions animate entering circles from radius zero, exiting circles shrink away, and updates smoothly shift positions over one second via `transition().duration(1000)`. The data is programmatically generated in JavaScript, with timed `setTimeout` callbacks modifying an array of fruit objects and re-rendering the SVG scene.
