This example demonstrates a simple bar chart created as a static SVG visualization. The code sets up a responsive SVG container using a viewBox and `preserveAspectRatio`, with margins applied via padding. It uses D3 v5 to select the container and append the SVG element, though the chart itself is not yet drawn—only the SVG preparation and empty data sections are present. The rendering approach is SVG-based, with dimensions fixed at 960 by 500 pixels.

Basic Bar chart

This example presents a basic bar chart built with D3 v5 and React, rendering to SVG. The chart displays a static dataset of five values as vertical bars, with bar heights proportional to the numbers. The code defines a 500x500 SVG canvas, applies a padding of 2 pixels between bars, and positions each rectangle using a calculated x coordinate. D3’s data join pattern (selectAll, data, enter, append) creates the rectangles, while attributes like width, height, and y are set via arrow functions derived from the dataset.

Making a bar chart

This example shows a blank SVG canvas prepared for building a bar chart, with the viewport dimensions explicitly read from the SVG element’s width and height attributes. The code uses d3’s `select` and `attr` methods to access the SVG and its dimensions, setting up the foundation for subsequent data binding and shape generation. The rendering approach is SVG-based, and the initial state includes a simple body style with zero margin and hidden overflow. The chart itself is not yet populated, focusing purely on the setup phase of the visualization.

Bar chart.js

This example displays a simple bar chart rendered in SVG, taking its dimensions from the svg element's attributes. The visualization shows a blank canvas with no data bars, as the code only initializes the chart container and imports the selection utility from D3. It uses `d3.select` to grab the SVG element and reads the `width` and `height` attributes, while loading D3 v6 from a CDN and applying a stylesheet that hides overflow. The chart appears as an empty, margin-less SVG area awaiting data.

Bar Chart

This example demonstrates a minimal bar chart implementation, showing how a static SVG canvas can be initialized and labeled. The visualization consists of a single text element positioned within an SVG container, serving as a placeholder rather than displaying actual data. The code uses D3.js v4 to select the body element, append an SVG with fixed dimensions of 960 by 500 pixels, and add a styled text label. The rendering approach relies on D3's selection and DOM manipulation methods, with the text element styled using monospace font and centered positioning. The data source is not specified, as the example focuses on basic SVG setup rather than data-driven visualization.

Bar Chart

This example displays a blank SVG canvas with no visible chart, as the code only sets up the basic structure for a bar chart. The React-based visualization uses D3 v6, importing the `select` function to access the SVG element and reading its width and height attributes. The page loads data from `data.csv` and applies monospace styling, but the bar-rendering logic is not implemented. The code represents the minimal starting point for a D3 bar chart, with the data source and rendering approach yet to be developed.

Bar Chart

A bar chart displays data through vertical bars rendered as SVG rectangles. The chart uses D3 version 6 to select the SVG element and retrieve its width and height attributes from the HTML. The example runs within a React framework, with the SVG dimensions set to 930 by 430 pixels. The code initializes the visualization by importing the `select` function from D3, though it does not yet define the specific data or bar rendering logic.

Learn D3.js

A simple bar chart built with D3.js v5 demonstrates how to create an SVG visualization from a static array of data. The page displays a single titled bar chart rendered inside an SVG element, using D3’s selection and scale methods to map data values to pixel heights. The code also includes a separate Hello World message written to a DOM element, but the chart itself does not reference external data files or interactive features. The example serves as a minimal introduction to D3’s core SVG rendering workflow.

Making Bar Chart with SVG!

This example demonstrates a minimal HTML page that renders a static bar chart using SVG, displaying a simple "Hello HTML!" message as the chart title. The code relies on plain CSS for text styling and JavaScript for the initial setup, though no actual data or dynamic visualization logic is implemented yet. It serves as a starting point for building interactive charts with React and D3, referencing a separate React Starter template. The rendering approach uses basic HTML elements within a styled `<div>` rather than SVG tags, with the title styled at a large font size for emphasis.
