Pathetic Bar Chart 2

Pathetic_Bar _Chart

This example displays the ten most populous countries as horizontal bars with no axes, labels, or scales visible. The bars are rendered as SVG rectangles using React components, with dimensions computed from United Nations World Population Prospects 2019 data loaded via `d3.csv`. The chart uses `d3.scaleBand` for the categorical y-axis placement of countries and `d3.scaleLinear` for the numeric x-axis range, mapping population values to pixel widths. The visualization intentionally omits standard chart furniture, presenting a deliberately minimal and "pathetic" representation.

Pathetic Bar Chart

This example displays the top 10 most populous countries as a pathetic bar chart with no axes, using horizontal bars whose lengths encode population figures from the United Nations World Population Prospects 2019 dataset. The visualization is built with React for rendering SVG rectangles, while D3 v5 utilities like `scaleBand` and `scaleLinear` map country names and population values to pixel dimensions. The data is loaded asynchronously via `d3.csv`, and the chart updates once the first ten rows are fetched and parsed.

Pathetic Bar Chart

A pathetic bar chart displays the top 10 most populous countries with horizontal rectangles and no axes, lacking any scale or labels. Built with React and D3 v5, it uses `d3.csv` to load United Nations World Population Prospects 2019 data, then applies `scaleBand` for the y-axis and `scaleLinear` for the x-axis. The SVG renders each bar without axes, making the chart intentionally minimal. An external `bundle.js` contains the React code, which iterates over the data to draw the rectangles.

TTrustPaul

Pathetic Bar Chart

This example displays the top 10 most populous countries as horizontal bars without any axes, labels, or scales, filling the viewport with oversized rectangles. The chart uses React hooks to fetch and process data from the United Nations World Population Prospects 2019 dataset via `d3.csv`, then renders SVG `rect` elements positioned by `d3.scaleBand` and `d3.scaleLinear`. The code applies no styling or annotations, intentionally presenting bare data values as a deliberately minimal and ironic visualization.

Pathetic Bar Chart

This example displays the ten most populous countries as a set of horizontal bars, with no axes, scales, or labels to orient the viewer. Each bar’s length corresponds to the country’s 2020 population, and the bars are stacked vertically in descending order of population. The visualization is rendered as an SVG using React and D3 v5, leveraging `scaleBand` for the y-axis positioning and `scaleLinear` for the x-axis scaling. The data is loaded from the United Nations World Population Prospects 2019 CSV file via `d3.csv`.

GGenpinZ

Pathetic Bar Chart

This example visualizes the top 10 most populous countries as a set of unlabeled, uncoordinated bars using a pathetic bar chart with no axes or scales displayed. It loads population data from the United Nations World Population Prospects 2019 dataset via `d3.csv`, then maps each country to a rectangle using React and D3’s `scaleBand` and `scaleLinear` for positioning. The SVG rendering shows raw bar widths proportional to population, with no gridlines, ticks, or labels, emphasizing the data’s bare presentation.

AALI Akbar SABZI

Pathetic Bar Chart

This example displays the ten most populous countries as a set of horizontal bars, with no axes or labels, hence the “pathetic” title. The bars are drawn as SVG rectangles, with their width proportional to each country’s 2020 population from the UN World Population Prospects 2019 dataset. The React app loads CSV data via `d3.csv`, then uses `d3.scaleBand` for the y-axis country categories and `d3.scaleLinear` with `d3.max` to map population values to pixel widths. The chart renders purely as positioned `rect` elements within a fixed 960×500 viewBox.

CCurran Kelleher

Pathetic Bar Chart

This example renders the top 10 most populous countries as a bar chart with no axes, scales, or labels, making the bars appear "pathetic" and uninformative. The visualization loads population data from the United Nations World Population Prospects 2019 CSV, and uses React with hooks (`useState`, `useEffect`) to manage state. D3’s `csv`, `scaleBand`, `scaleLinear`, and `max` functions calculate bar widths and vertical positions, while each bar is an SVG `<rect>` element rendered inside a `<svg>` container.
