This example demonstrates fundamental SVG rendering techniques using D3 v3, with a blank HTML page and a JavaScript file that logs “hello world” to the console. It includes minimal styling through CSS, where a message class is defined with a large 12em font size and centered text alignment. The visualization serves as a basic scaffold, showing how an SVG container, D3 selections, and CSS styling are prepared for custom chart development. No actual data or geometric shapes are drawn yet.

SVG Fundamentals

This example provides a minimal demonstration of SVG fundamentals. It displays the text “hello world” as an SVG element, styled with CSS for large, centered typography. The visualization uses the JavaScript console to log output and relies on a basic HTML structure, linking to a separate stylesheet. It does not incorporate data or interactive behavior; instead, it serves as a straightforward starting point for rendering text-based content within an SVG context.

SVG Fundamentals

This example displays a minimal web page that prints “Hello HTML!” in a large, centered font, alongside a console message of “hello world.” It demonstrates the foundational setup for an SVG-based visualization using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. The code relies on a basic HTML `<div>` element, CSS styling for typography, and a JavaScript module that logs a string, serving as a starting point for more complex SVG graphics.

SVG Fundamentals

This example demonstrates fundamental SVG shapes—a circle and a rectangle—hand-coded directly in an HTML document, with D3.js v5 loaded for broader data-driven visualization capabilities. The page also showcases ES6 module imports, including a custom `myMessage.js` module that exports a string, and uses D3’s `select` API to update a designated div’s text. Rendering relies entirely on SVG markup within the browser, with minimal styling applied via a separate CSS file. The code serves as a foundational template for integrating D3 with modular JavaScript.

SVG Fundamentals

This example demonstrates the fundamental distinction between HTML and SVG rendering for data visualization. It presents a simple "Hello HTML!" message styled with CSS, serving as a baseline for understanding how web technologies handle graphical output. The code uses plain HTML elements with a CSS class for styling, and JavaScript is referenced but not yet implemented for any drawing logic. The example acts as a starting point for learning how to transition from HTML-based text display to more advanced SVG-based visualizations, highlighting the structural differences between these markup languages in a web browser context.

SVG Fundamentals

This example demonstrates a minimal HTML page that introduces fundamental web technologies for visualization. It shows a large, centered "Hello HTML!" message styled through CSS, with the page structure defined in HTML and behavior handled by JavaScript. The code uses plain CSS properties like `font-size` and `text-align` alongside basic HTML elements, serving as a starting point for more complex SVG-based visualizations. It references a React Starter example for further exploration.

SVG Fundamentals

This example introduces the foundational building blocks of web-based visualization by displaying a plain HTML page with a large “Hello HTML” message rendered through CSS. It pairs this with a JavaScript console log, demonstrating the basic separation of structure, styling, and scripting. The code uses the native DOM and `console.log` API directly, with no external libraries, serving as a minimal starter for later React and D3 integration.

SVG Fundamentals

This example demonstrates the fundamental building blocks of SVG rendering by displaying a static “Hello World” message centered on a blank page. The visualization shows how an HTML page can incorporate CSS for typography and layout, with the text styled at a massive 13em font size. The code uses plain HTML and CSS within a single `index.html` file, with no external JavaScript libraries or data sources. It serves as a minimal template for understanding how SVG and web technologies structure visual content, as referenced by the accompanying React Starter link.

SVG Fundamentals

This example demonstrates the visual and conceptual difference between HTML and SVG by rendering a large “Hello HTML!” message using basic CSS styling in an HTML document. It serves as a foundation for building more complex visualizations, showing how to structure an HTML page with inline styles and JavaScript-ready markup. The code uses standard HTML elements, a `<style>` block for typography, and a `div` with a `font-size` property. It does not yet incorporate any data or charting libraries, acting purely as a starting point for SVG-based work in frameworks like React.
