This example reproduces Sol LeWitt’s *Vertical* art piece using two SVG masks to interleave horizontal and vertical black bars. A circular mask reveals the horizontal bars inside the circle while hiding them outside, and a complementary mask reveals the vertical bars only outside the circle. The code builds the SVG directly with the Document Object Model (DOM) API, creating 100 rectangles at 20-pixel intervals across a 600×500 canvas. The result is a clean, geometric pattern that contrasts dense line grids with an empty circular void.

Fork of Sol Lewitt Reproduction Vertical

This example reproduces Sol LeWitt’s vertical wall drawing using pure SVG and JavaScript. It creates a circular mask and its inverse, then renders 100 horizontal and 100 vertical stripes that alternate visibility through those masks. The result is a grid of intersecting lines with a circular void in the center, generated entirely through DOM manipulation and SVG `mask` elements.

Fork of Sol LeWitt Vertical Variant

This visualization reproduces a Sol LeWitt-style geometric composition on a full-screen SVG canvas. It shows a grid of thin horizontal and vertical bars intersecting around a central circular void, creating a cross-shaped negative space. The piece uses two SVG masks to selectively reveal either the horizontal or vertical rectangles. One mask shows a white circle on a black background, while the other is inverted; JavaScript loops generate 100 rectangles in each orientation, each assigned one of the masks to achieve the layered effect.

Fork of Sol Lewitt Piece Vertical

This example reproduces a Sol LeWitt-style geometric composition, showing a grid of horizontal and vertical bars that are visible only through two circular masks. One mask reveals a full circle of bars, while a second, inverted mask creates a contrasting ring effect. The artwork is rendered entirely with browser-native SVG APIs, using `document.createElementNS` to construct rectangles, masks, and circles dynamically. The code sets up a white circle against a black background in the first mask and the inverse in the second, then applies these masks to two sets of 100 striped rectangles. No external libraries are used; the piece relies on pure SVG manipulation and JavaScript loops.

Fork of Fork of Sol LeWitt Reproduction Vertical Inverst

This example generates an abstract geometric composition by layering horizontal and vertical bars over a full-screen SVG canvas. A circular mask and its inverse are created using the SVG `mask` element, with the first mask revealing horizontal strips in the central circle and the second exposing vertical strips outside it. The code uses the DOM API `createElementNS` to construct SVG elements dynamically, setting attributes like `width`, `height`, and `mask` via `setAttribute`. No external libraries are used; all shapes are drawn procedurally in a loop with 100 iterations per orientation.

Fork of Sol LeWitt Reproduction Vertical

This example recreates a Sol LeWitt–inspired geometric composition using only SVG primitives and masking, showing a grid of thin vertical and horizontal bars that intersect to form a central circular void. The work emphasizes the contrast between ordered line work and negative space, creating a pseudo-visualization that mimics algorithmic drawing without encoding external data. The code relies on the raw DOM APIs `document.createElementNS` and `setAttribute` to construct the SVG elements, while two `<mask>` definitions with inverted fills (white background with black circle, black background with white circle) selectively reveal the vertical strokes inside the circle and the horizontal strokes outside it. No external libraries are used; the font is loaded via Google Fonts’ “Share Tech” for the text styling.

Fork of Sol lewitt_vertical

This example displays a full-screen SVG canvas filled with one hundred horizontal 10-pixel-high rectangles, layered vertically to create a striped pattern. A circular mask, centered on the viewport, reveals only the central portion of the bars, leaving the rest of the canvas blank. The work is a direct adaptation of Sol LeWitt’s geometric style, rendered using the standard DOM API for SVG creation and manipulation, with the mask and shapes defined programmatically, though the mask is not applied to the rectangles in the final loop.

Fork of Fork of Sol LeWitt reproduction mask

This piece renders a grid of horizontal and vertical black bars that form a circular composition, visually echoing the geometric style of Sol LeWitt. The work uses a double-masking technique in SVG to create the pattern: a white circle on a black rectangle masks the horizontal bars, while a black circle on a white rectangle masks the vertical ones. The code generates the SVG directly via the DOM API, computing bar lengths and counts from the window dimensions. The result is an abstract, generative artwork that highlights the interplay of line, form, and negative space.

Fork of Sol LeWitt Reproduction Vertical

This example reproduces a Sol LeWitt–style geometric drawing using raw SVG and JavaScript. It displays a grid of alternating horizontal and vertical stripes that are revealed through two circular mask regions at the center of the canvas. The code creates an SVG element, defines two mask layers—one with a white circle on black and another with a black circle on white—and appends 100 horizontal and 100 vertical rectangles. Each rectangle is clipped by one of the masks, producing the contrasting stripe pattern without any external libraries.
