This example displays a moving circle that follows the mouse cursor, while also loading and summarizing a CSV dataset of CSS named colors. The circle’s position updates reactively based on pointer movement, and the data summary reports the file size in kilobytes, row count, and column count. The project uses D3 v5’s `csv` loader to fetch the remote data, and React with hooks (`useState`, `useCallback`) to manage state and rendering updates.

Fork of Mouse Follower

A circle follows the mouse cursor across a full-screen SVG canvas, serving as a simple interactive pointer. The visualization also loads CSS color data from a CSV file and renders each row as a pie-shaped arc, with the arc’s fill matching the color’s hex value. Built with React hooks for state management and D3’s `csv` and `arc` utilities, the example uses an SVG path for every data point to create a static, colorful display alongside the interactive follower.

Fork of Mouse Follower

This example loads a named CSS color dataset from a remote CSV file and displays a summary of its size, row count, and column count. The React component uses the `useState` hook to store the data after fetching it asynchronously with d3.csv. The message is computed by formatting the CSV data back into a string with `d3.csvFormat`, measuring its length, and counting rows and columns. The interface shows only the text summary, with no graphic or interactive element beyond the loading state.

Mouse Follower

A circle follows the mouse as it moves across an SVG canvas, updating its position in real time. The React app uses the `useState` hook to track mouse coordinates and the `useCallback` hook to handle `mousemove` events. A CSV file containing CSS named colors is fetched via the Fetch API, though its contents are only logged to the console and not visualized. React 17 and D3 v7 are loaded from CDN, with rendering handled by React's virtual DOM.

Fork of Mouse Follower

This example uses D3’s `csv` loader to fetch a list of CSS named colors, then passes the parsed data into a React component’s state via `useState` and `useEffect`. The app displays a plain-text summary of the dataset—file size in kilobytes, row count, and column count—computed using `d3.csvFormat`. The rendering is handled by React DOM, with a loading message shown until the asynchronous data request resolves. The example demonstrates a minimal integration of D3 data loading with React’s state management.

Fork of Mouse Follower

A React app loads a CSV of named CSS colors using d3.csv, then displays a text summary of the dataset’s size, row count, and column count via React state and the useState and useEffect hooks. The rendered message, built by the custom message function, formats the CSV size in kilobytes using d3.csvFormat. The example demonstrates integrating D3 data loading with React’s component lifecycle for simple asynchronous data visualization.

Fork of Mouse Follower

This example demonstrates a React application that loads a CSV file of CSS named colors using D3’s `d3.csv` utility, then displays either a message or a loading indicator. The app imports React’s `useState` and `useCallback` hooks to manage the fetched data, storing it in state once the asynchronous request resolves. The rendered output is a simple `<div>` whose text content changes based on whether the data has arrived. The visualization relies on React 16.9 and D3 5.11, with the data sourced from a remote gist URL, and is mounted to the DOM via `ReactDOM.render`.

Fork of Mouse Follower

This example displays a data summary for a CSV file containing CSS named colors, reporting the file size, row count, and column count once the data loads. The visualization uses React to manage state and render the text output, while D3.js handles the asynchronous CSV fetching and parsing from a remote GitHub Gist. The initial "loading" message is replaced by the computed statistics, demonstrating a minimal data-loading workflow.

Fork of Mouse Follower

This fork demonstrates a unidirectional data flow pattern that updates an SVG circle to follow the mouse cursor. The visualization tracks pointer position and renders a simple responsive point on the canvas. Built with React and D3 (v7), the implementation uses `select` to target DOM nodes and `csvParse` to load and parse the Iris flower dataset from `data.csv`. The data loading follows a state machine pattern, transitioning from `undefined` to `'LOADING'` to the final parsed array, with numeric conversions applied to the measurement columns.
