Prototype of force Simulation

A force-directed graph represents a network of application and host nodes. The visualization uses D3’s `forceSimulation` with `forceManyBody` and `forceLink` to arrange nodes, with larger main nodes connected by longer links and smaller leaf nodes clustered nearby. Node colors come from a predefined palette, and each node’s size determines its radius. Users can drag nodes, which sets fixed positions and restarts the simulation. The example is built with React and renders to SVG, using D3 v6.

This example shows an interactive force-directed network of interconnected nodes, with each node colored by cluster and draggable by the user. The visualization uses `d3.forceSimulation` to calculate layout physics, `d3.forceLink` for edge constraints, and `d3.forceCenter` to keep the graph centered. Node positions update smoothly via `d3.zoom` and `d3.drag` behaviors, while transitions are animated with `transition.attrTween` for opacity. The data is provided as a static JSON file embedded in the script.

A radial network diagram shows one central node connected to eight related application nodes, with each cluster color-coded by a palette from Paletton. The visualization uses a D3 force simulation (`d3.forceSimulation`) with `forceManyBody`, `forceLink`, and `forceCenter` to position nodes and links in SVG. Users can drag nodes to reposition them, which updates the simulation's alpha target and restarts it. Node size and link distance are predefined constants, and the color scheme is generated programmatically from a custom colors module.

Interactive Force Directed Layout

An interactive network visualization demonstrates a continuous force-directed layout in which users can push and pull nodes. Selected nodes remain fixed while the layout algorithm repositions all others, with the diagram re-laying out during and after drag operations. The example uses the gojs library’s `ForceDirectedLayout` class, extending it to create a `ContinuousForceDirectedLayout` that optimizes performance by caching the network. Nodes are rendered as circles with text labels, and links include arrowheads and fading label backgrounds, all output as SVG via the gojs `Diagram` component.

This example visualizes an interactive network of nodes and links using a force-directed layout. The simulation, powered by `d3.forceSimulation` with collision and centering forces, positions circular elements on a canvas. Node colors and sizes vary, while links connect them based on imported data from an external source (v3). The rendering approach uses Canvas 2D drawing commands, with pointer events likely enabling drag and hover interactions, though no explicit tooltips or labels appear in the code.
