This example displays the top 10 countries by 2020 population as horizontal bars within a fixed margin, demonstrating the SVG margin convention. The bars are scaled using `scaleBand` for the y-axis and `scaleLinear` for the x-axis, with React managing state and D3's `csv` loading the UN population data. A margin object defines the inner plotting area, and the SVG is translated accordingly to position the chart.

The Margin Convention

This example displays the top ten countries from a UN population dataset as a horizontal bar chart. The bars are rendered as SVG rectangles, with their lengths encoding the 2020 population figures. The chart uses a margin convention to position the plotting area within the SVG canvas. The code employs d3’s `scaleBand` for the categorical y-axis, `scaleLinear` for the quantitative x-axis, and `csv` for data loading, while React manages the component’s state and renders the SVG output.

The Margin Convention

This example shows a horizontal bar chart displaying the top ten countries by projected 2020 population, using UN population data loaded as CSV. The chart applies the margin convention, reserving space around the plot area through a margin object and translating the SVG group accordingly. React manages the component state and renders SVG rectangles, while D3 utilities handle data loading, scales, and layout. The visualization uses `scaleBand` for the y-axis and `scaleLinear` for the x-axis, with `csv` fetching the remote dataset.

The Margin Convention

A horizontal bar chart displays the top ten countries by 2020 population, parsed from a CSV of UN population data. React state loads the data via `d3.csv`, while `d3.scaleLinear` and `d3.scaleBand` map population values and country names to SVG rectangles within a standard margin layout.

The Margin Convention

This example demonstrates the margin convention for bar charts, displaying the top 10 countries by 2020 population from a UN dataset. The chart renders horizontal bars using SVG `<rect>` elements, positioned with `d3.scaleBand` for the categorical y-axis and `d3.scaleLinear` for the quantitative x-axis. Data loads asynchronously via `d3.csv` into React state with `useEffect`, while margins are applied through a translated `<g>` group. The visualization shows how to separate chart dimensions from overall SVG size using explicit margin objects.

The Margin Convention

This example displays a bar chart of the top ten countries by 2020 population, using a horizontal layout where each bar’s length is proportional to the population value. The visualization is built with React, using D3 utilities for data loading and scaling: `d3.csv` fetches the UN Population dataset, while `d3.scaleBand` and `d3.scaleLinear` map countries and populations to SVG rectangles. The SVG output is rendered inside a React component, with margins applied via a translation transform.

The Margin Convention

This example visualizes the top 10 most populous countries in 2020 as a horizontal bar chart using React and D3. The data, loaded via `d3.csv` from a UN population dataset, is rendered as SVG rectangles whose widths encode population values. A `scaleBand` positions countries along the y-axis, while a `scaleLinear` maps population to pixel widths. The chart demonstrates the margin convention by offsetting the render group with `transform` and calculating `innerHeight` and `innerWidth` from fixed margins.

The Margin Convention

This example demonstrates the margin convention in D3 by rendering a horizontal bar chart of the top 10 most populous countries from a UN population dataset. The chart uses a React component with D3 scales (`scaleBand`, `scaleLinear`) to position and size SVG rectangles within a translated group element, explicitly reserving space via a margin object. The x-axis encodes population in 2020, while the y-axis displays country names. The code applies D3's `csv` loading and React's `useState` and `useEffect` hooks for data fetching.

The Margin Convention

This example visualizes the top 10 countries by population in 2020 as horizontal bars. The chart uses the margin convention, arranging a 960 by 500 pixel SVG with a 20-pixel margin on each side. The code loads data from a CSV file using D3's `csv` utility, and then uses React state to manage the data asynchronously. Key D3 APIs include `scaleBand` for the categorical country axis, `scaleLinear` for the population axis, and `max` to compute the domain, with bars rendered as SVG `rect` elements within a transformed group.
